Citi Bank Beware very deceptive marketing and poor customer service New York New York

I received a mailed out pre-approved credit card offer from Citibank. It promised 18 months of zero interest and 20,000 bonus points if $3500 dollars was charged to the card during the first three months of the account opening date. I purchased a new riding lawn mower and several accessories during the first week the account was opened that met that criteria. After waiting more than three months Citi has failed to apply the promised 20,000 bonus points. They did apply the 18 months of zero interest. Frequent calls, emails and chat sessions all ended up with customer service telling me I needed to fax in proof of my pre-approved offer or they would not apply the points. Since I had shredded that offer letter shortly after the application was approved I no longer had it in my possession. But who creates and mails out these offers with no records. The offer had a confirmation number associated with it. I opened up a complaint with the BBB and again Citi declined to apply the promised points. Beware if you are accepting a pre-approved offer from Citi and hang on to all of the documentation. They are deceptive with their marketing strategies. Better yet stay far away from this company that is undergoing financial difficulties.
