I have been very upset for the past two years with the college funding center. On 6/2/02, myself, my husband, and my daughter attended a seminar at Longwood University by appointment reguarding college funding. The presentation persited of testimonial videos of various students who have participated in the College Funding Program (Scholarships, financial aid programs, and deatils about the process of entering into college).
My daughter, seventeen years of age, as well as my husband and I were very enthusiastic about recieving financial support. After the seminar we sat down further with Judy Reynolds, a consultant of the College Funding Center, although we were skeptical. She further convinced us of the importance and urgency of taking care of our child's education and proceeded to discuss payment plans at which time we were told out plan for our daughter would cost $1025.00. Our options were full pay, half pay, or three pay of which we chose three pay of $341.60 every month for three months. This was taken out of my checking account and was paid in full by the end of September of 2002.
The school year my daughter would be attending college would be 2003-2004 also siblings could be added to the contract for their college for the cost of $149.00 each. I tried to contact this coompany several times throughout the year of 2003. We have not received but one newsletter and I was concerned. I feel this company was fraudulent and misleading to all those who have been taken for their hard earned money. I want my $1025.00 back if anyone can help me please contact me. I feel this was a criminal act and legal action should be taken. Thank you.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
Al & Donna Barone and Joe Mulcahy orchestrated this scam deliberately
AUTHOR: Brenna - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, February 11, 2004
Deborah,
I am sorry to hear that you were ripped off like I was. I was ripped off on 5/2/03 and did not receive any services from College Funding Group because my service was supposed to begin in 2007. There are 23 rip-off reports on this website which translates to this company ripping off over $23,000 (approximately 1,000 per person).
I feel that Al & Donna Barone and Joe Mulcahy orchestrated this scam deliberately. I have been completely violated by this whole situation.
Please read through the other rebuttals for help, however, you must file a complaint with the Texas Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for any consideration for a return of funds.
Also, contact the Better Business Bureau (in Texas and Virginia) and the Attorney General in Virginia as well. Please make any and all agencies that have to deal with trade, interstate trade, and business practices aware of what this company did to you. I have contacted my credit card company to dispute the charges also (if you charged the services to your credit card, the credit card company will do an investigation and help you).
I highly recommend you contact as many people as possible because Al & Donna Barone and Joe Mulcahy deserve to go to jail for stealing so much money from people who only wanted to help their children go to college. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has a pending case against the fraudulent activities of this company also, go to their website and you will see the litigation paperwork.
