I called Columbia Gas to have my service turned on, at which point, I was informed that I needed to fax my photo id and social security card to verify my identity, along with a contact number, which they would use to contact me to set up a start service date. I faxed the requested information, waited a week, called to inquire, only to be told they never recieved my fax. So, I faxed it again, waited another week, and set up a service date. I couldnt have my service turned on because the service man forgot his key to the meter room. The service man was rude and unprofessional. He told me he didn't feel like going down stairs to get his tools and he couldnt access the meter room, so he would have to come back. He even had the nerve to tell me if the gas wasnt turned on during the next trip, I would owe the company $60. Finally, my gas service was turned on, 3 weeks after I moved into my new place. 2 weeks later, my pilot light went out. I called the gas company to see if they could tell me how to light it, because I wanted to make cookies and my husband wasn't home. They lady totally flipped out saying I had a gas leak, to evacuate immediately and they were sending someone out to turn the gas off now. She wouldn't listen to me, talk to me, anything. So the gas guy comes out, wont listen to me, wont reason with me, nothing, BAM, gas service shut off and they're telling me my stove needs replaced. So I guess I'm selling a perfectly good, non leaking gas stove and switching to electric all because columbia gas has the worst customer service in the world, and instead of calmly explaining to me how to light my pilot, a lady induced a panic that had my service halted in less than an hour. I hope I never have to deal with this company again! The End!
