Earlier in March I received an unsolicited DVD, I WONDER WHO'S KILLING HER NOW? It was in a small white envelope with the date March 8, 2010 above my name and address. Since there were no papers included, I figured it was just a free sample like companies sometimes send. Or at least I thought it was free until I received the credit card bill today with a charge of $9.95, Transaction date 03/04 and Post date 03/05. The charge was made by COMM-SERVICES LLC 04014292943 NJ.
I have never ordered from COMM-SERVICES, never even heard of them previously. What concerns me the most is how did they get my name, address, AND credit card information?
Naturally that credit card is now junk and I'll not only have to wait for a new one but will also have to notify the businesses that have that card info to use in their billing.
I'm curious -- since it's the card I use for NetFlix and the scam is apparently based on sending DVDs, was anyone else's scammed credit or debit card normally used for a NetFlix membership? I'm wondering if there's any common link between victims that might help us track down the site or business whose customer list apparently has been stolen.

Thank you to the commenter of the original complaint concerning this company. I too fell prey to these thieves COMM-SERVICES LLC who charged my credit card $9.95 in Feb 2010 and I too had a "backordered item from Home Brand". Their phone number is an answering service.
In Feb 10, I ordered 2 solar bathroom scales from Home Brand which the website indicated was in stock but which weren't. Of course, they had my credit card information because I had to enter it to order the IN STOCK bathroom scales. Then I received several emails saying my scales were "backordered". Below is one of them. Like you I canceled the order. I just contacted my credit card company to reverse the charges.

I just read your report and wanted to respond about where comm-services, LLC is getting our credit card numbers. You can read my complaint and update (dated 3/16/10 under PA, Pennsylvania) but what I have learned, the common link, is that our credit card numbers are coming from an online purchase from any of these sites: iKitchen.com/HomeBrands.com/MetroMarket.com. You would remember the site because they never send the merchandise and you probably ended up canceling your order--like others of us, but then they have our credit card numbers. There is a much longer list of these online companies--and you can even Google Warning!! ikitchen.com/HomeBrands.com/MetroMarket.com and read the report on resellerratings.com which will give you the name of the person responsible for this fraud.
I too am just as mad as you are about this. Only thing you can do is get a new card, make your bank aware of all this info, file reports, and change passwords. Hope this helps.
