Comm-Services LLC Credit card charge for unordered movie DVD Ocean, New Jersey

Shortly after Christmas I received in the mail a DVD entitled "Life with Father".  It was addressed correctly to me and was from Comm-Services LLC in Ocean, NJ.  I had never heard of the company and had never ordered that or any other movie DVD.  Suspecting a scam, I kept the DVD and checked my credit card statement.  Sure enough a charge of $9.95 from Comm-Services showed up.

I called the credit card issuer (Bank of America) to report fraud.  The first guy I talked to pretty much told me that either I or someone to whom I had loaned my card (which I NEVER do) had ordered the movie.  When I assured him I hadn't, he told me to call the company, helpfully providing its phone number, and ask how to return it.  Since the phone number was not toll-free I figured the cost of the call plus return shipping would exceed the $9.95 I had been billed.

I called Bank of America again and got a different person, who agreed that my credit card information had likely been stolen.  She agreed to remove the charge, cancel my card and issue a new card.

These are profitable scams because the amount charged ($9.95) will go unnoticed by most people who don't read their statements carefully, and even people who do notice it may figure it's not worth their time to fight it.
