Comp USA Advertised Compaq laptop that Burns and Plays CDs & DVDs. Got it home and no DVD burner. Ripoff Santa Rosa California

Comp USA advertised a Compaq Laptop, claiming that it, "burns and plays CDs and DVDs". The salesperson we talked to about the laptop never said anything about the ad being wrong. The salesman actually tried to push all sorts of software on us claiming that the laptop didn't come with anything, and we would need software like Windows XP, and Virus protection. He was lying. The laptop had all the software we needed, already installed. During all this time, he should've told us that the computer didn't come as it was advertised. We did not find out that there was no dvd burner until we got home 2 1/2 hours away. This is considered false advertising. We were even overcharged $50.00 and had to go back in and get that taken care of. During all this time we spent at the counter no one told us that this did not have the dvd burner. Then when my Wife called them to deal with this, they told her a correction was posted in the entrance window. NOT!!! We stood in line for 4 hours next to that window, and we had nothing better to do than read everything that was posted. There was no notice. The guy my Wife talked to also said, "You can always return it." Well, we can't make a 5+ hour trip to return this laptop, even though I'm considering it. (I don't think they are gonna like it if I have to go back to their store.) Comp USA is a RIPOFF.

And to further my point about their false advertising... If you look at their ads that come with the newspaper, all the computers are advertised with the statement, "burns and plays CDs and DVDs". Sounds to me like this happens all the time.

I wonder how many more customers got burned. I doubt most of the customers realized that they were overcharged $50.00, too.

I just want this deal set right.
