I bought a 1997 Suzuki Sidekick from Courtesy Ford about three years ago. They let me take it home but started calling every day several times at my work threatening me to bring the car back because my bank had not financed it yet. I told them it would take about a week and a half. They would not accept that.
When I tired of the harrassment and did bring it back, they would not accept the return of the car and said I had to finance through them. I would not finance through the dealer, I paid cash right then, about $7,800+costs. Later I found that this dealer honors AARP and didn't mention it. When I called back and asked for the AARP discount they told me I got enough of a discount on the car. After sliding in many snow storms and thinking the car was just too light for snow I discovered that the car light on the dash said it was in 4 wheel but, in fact, this car would not go into 4 wheel. I have spent a great deal of money replacing hubs, etc. and there is still a problem. My mechanic is telling me that I probably will need to do just what the dealer did and fix the car into 2 wheel drive only to drive it.
I paid 4 wheel price for a car that the dealer had to know would not drive in 4 wheel. They misrepresented the car as a 4 wheel drive. That is not honest. They would not give AARP discount, they harrassed me by phone for payment when my credit is excellent. I am single and 60 years old, I do not appreciate my treatment by Courtesy Ford. I thought I had no recourse until I saw your site. Thank you so much. If they will take advantage of people I believe it is nice for others to know the dealer's name.

So much for something nice to say about the dealer. My complaint stands

After calling and giving the information that Courtesy Ford wanted, they never called me back.
I took my car to another garage that deals in 4 wheel and they replaced the hubs with manual. I got ripped off twice as Shell Station on Platte Canyon did not know how to fix the hubs but charged me $600 for not doing it right. They also replaced the front breaks and did not do the bearings, another $400. The 4 wheel garage took care of the bearings.
I hope I learn enough from this bad experience to never buy a car without having a mechanic go through it. But then, the mechanic I went to at Shell was not too great either. I guess it really is "Consumer beware." Maybe this story will help someone else.

Concerned Courtesy Ford Dealer Call

When I filed my comment with rip off report I also emailed Elway Dealership. I received a call from Courtesy Ford this afternoon saying they are concerned and want to know more about this. I am happy to know that someone may care that I did not get what I paid for. Maybe I am incorrect and the dealer didn't know the car was not going into 4 wheel, although their mechanic should have checked that before sale. I will update again when I find out more. It would be wonderful to say something nice about the dealership. Let's see how it goes.

Still no 4 wheel drive. The mechanic called 4/4p.m. & they put the car back like the dealer had it. Only 2 wheel drive. They said it has been in a wreck and the hub modified. The dealer had to know this information when they sold the car to me. It is no better than stealing from someone.
