I traded in a 2000 Toyota 4-runner condition and very low miles and for a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac on Sept 11, 2002. It was a pre-owned. It is a 2001, the owner before me had it only 6 months. It was the most comfortable truck I have driven and everything sounded great (under the hood)until I took it home.

When I drove it more than 5 miles down the road, it sounded like a diesel truck. The next day, I took it into another dealer to have fixed (it ended up being the tensioner chain I think) but that was the beginning of the problems. My truck that I bought spent 1 month in the shop and went back several times later. The transmission was rebuilt, when they looked at the engine, there were metal shavings in it from when I bought it from the dealer.

At the other dealership, they were supposed to replace the engine but they didn't, they just said that they drained all the oil and checked it out and was ok.

The day after I bought the truck, I called courtesy and complained. The salesman that I talked to when I bought the truck told me to go back with the truck and they would take $ from their advertising account and replace my truck with a new one. When I got there, I found out it was a ploy to check my credit AGAIN!! when they just did so the day before and to tell me something I already knew, my credit isn't the greatest. My boyfriend and I requested to talk to the manager to get to the bottom it this.

The manager didn't like the fact that we confronted him about this and about the lies from is TOP salesman. He told us to leave or was going to call security. They also wouldn't cancel the sale and give me my 4 runner back. My truck was fix by yet a 3rd dealership but was temporary.

Now, my transmission is about to go, my engine is about to go probably due to the metal flakes that had been in it. Ford told the dealership to replace the engine but didn't. Courtesy sold me a truck that is unsafe. Ford requires preownded vehicles to go thru a 135(? not sure if # is right but is close) point inspection and when confronted Courtesy said they said they had no record of the inspection, it must have slipped by. Also when buying a pre-owned vehicle they are to give a carfax report, I had to call them everyday for a week to get that report.

I now still don't have very good credit and am forced to trade in or put thousands of $$ into the truck to fix which I don't have. If I had it, would've sued the dealership. My warantee is up and more problems now and from problems not able to be 100% fixed. NEVER AGAIN
