Credit Acceptance would not make arraignments I had called them last week 1/20 and made arraigements to pay on the first of Feb. I even sent them a 150  to reduce the payment. They continued to harrass me with phone calls and on Monday night while I was at work they just came and got it.

I did not even have time to get all of my stuff out, just my purse.  I do not feel that this should be legal to repo someone's vehicle when they are just a month behind.

They repoed by daughters car twice and even sent it to auction once after 3 days. Do not use them at all, I once thought that they were the answer to me getting my credit established but apparently I was very wrong.

These people should be made to repair the damage that they have done to us all. And the little devices that they put in out vehicles is nothing more than a way in which to keep track of us which I feel is a violation of our constitutional rights.

it is the banks problem

AUTHOR: Hamster54 - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, June 20, 2015

how is it not the banks problem? More and more Americans are broke living pay check to pay check. I lost my job because my company dodont like asian women. They believe interracial couples is sick. I had my car repo because no one on this town will hire vets. 40% of America is living paycheck to paycheck. We have to get to work. We cant afford medical or dental or to eat. It sounds like you live a wonderful life. Im so happy u can afford to judge people and make your car payment. But if banks keep failing like last time maybe its not the publics problem to bail them out. Think before you speak!

Pay Attention to what you sign

AUTHOR: FOR THE RECORD 82 - ()

POSTED: Monday, March 18, 2013

while i definitely agree that having a vehicle repo after one payment is missed , they have every right too. Consumers need to pay more attention to that contracts they sign. Credit acceptance is a high risk finance company anyways which means your credit isn't good enough for financing anywhere else. To avoid that from happening just pay on time.

harassing phone calls

AUTHOR: Jessie - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 20, 2013

So you may be one of the customers that had a good experience with this company, and most of the people complaining probably were farther behind than what they said.  When dealing with any finance/credit company, the key is to make your payments on time, and if you are unable to do so contact them promptly and explain the issue.  Maybe they would allow partial payments til you can get it caught up.  Just ignoring their calls doesn't help at all.  Being as polite as you can be can also help.  Being a customer service representative myself, I can tell you that when a customer becomes belligerent or demanding, it makes me not want to help as much.  You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Time for a reality check, and lose the entitlement attitude!

AUTHOR: Southern Chemical and Equipment LLC - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, November 08, 2012

First of all, I understand that everyone falls on hard times.

It happens.

HOWEVER....It's NOT the bank's problem!!The bank IS NOT a welfare agency!

YOU signed a CONTRACT that specifies the payment terms.

Here's the real problem that no one wants to address.

You people whining are living beyond your means.

(Again, NOT the bank's problem).

If keeping your car is important to you, then let something else go, like your CABLE, or eating out, or frivolous shopping, or your BEER, or your DRUGS, etc.

Priorities.

People run into these problems because they are financially irresponsible.

For example.

When you are working and making money, how much of your earnings do you tuck away for emergencies?

If you do not have an amount equal to 3 months pay tucked away, you are living beyond your means.

You are financially irresponsible.

This means you cannot really afford a car payment, and that is why you are always late and getting repo'd.

I personally went many years driving old junkers because I could not really afford a car payment.

Even now, a self employed business owner making good money, I drive a 7 year old truck with over 100,000 miles on it because I'm not comfortable with another payment right now.

And, yes, I have a minimum of 3 months bills/living expenses tucked away.

People need to lose the entitlement attitude.

Pay as agreed, or lose it.

Real simple.

The bank owes you nothing.

What you have said is making no sense, ummm have you not realize that you work at a law firm duh, you are naive seriously. I do find them to be cruel to their customers for they have done the same to me for being a month and two weeks behind, they do not care... the repo men said they are the only company they ever known to act like that towards their customers and if they didn't pay them so well they wouldn't work for them at all.

"They won't help me"!

The translation of that statement is "they won't let me get away with paying when I want to or if I want to."

advice

AUTHOR: collectorpro - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, July 29, 2012

Just like the last person said, prioritize the bills: rent or mortage, car, other unsecured debts in this order, i speak to way too many debtors who go astray & then wonder why i repoed their vehicle. Where did we(society) get the idea to delay paying a car payment wasn't going to have consequences?

So, you think it's OK to be 1.5 months late? Or even 1 month? 1 week?

AUTHOR: Southern Chemical and Equipment LLC - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, May 03, 2012

What does your CONTRACT say??

I bet it says "payment due ON OR BEFORE due date"...right?

There is no grace period on any sub-prime financing that I know of.

In either case, the car belongs to them, it is not yours until you pay it off.

You defaulted on the agreement you had with them, and think it's a rip off that they enforced the contract YOU signed?? Really?

Welcome to the "entitlement" generation!

If a car is that important to you, make your you pay on it in order to keep it!

Simple solution.

Let other things go like payments on extras like cable tv, etc., or unsecured debts..

Always take care of your "needs" in order of priority.

Common sense here. That's all.

Sorry but what your saying doesnt make sence

AUTHOR: MichaelAndShannon - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, March 16, 2012

My husband bought a SUV last year from Credit Acceptence Corp and even with being two weeks late on one payment the company never made any kind of threats and to be honest was very nice about it. They even didnt report to the credit breu that it was late when they found out the reason it was late is because we were in the middle of moving from one state to another.

Because of how great they have been to us we are buying a mustang from them later today. I'm guessing you are probably being less than honest about how many payments you were late and about making arrangments with the company because I work for a law firm and have never seen a company move that fast on taking a car back. and because of how great they have been to me and my husband.

The answer is...

AUTHOR: Southern Belle - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, December 02, 2011

You said, "I once thought that they were the answer to me getting my credit established but apparently I was very wrong."

The answer to reestablishing your credit is to honor your payment agreements and make your payments on time. The answer to making your payments on time is to not overextend yourself by purchasing things on credit that you do not have the funds to easily make the payments on when they are due.

That's how you reestablish your credit.

SCREW Dave Ramsey!

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Dave Ramsey has a very obvious, very apparent attitude problem and talks out of both sides of his mouth...spouting off Bible verses from one side then cursing and name calling from the other.

The name of the game is to get that payment in on time, every time.  If their website says it takes a few days to "process" a payment made on the site, then making that payment on the due date is going to be obviously late!

Using Western Union has its problems too but not necessarily security.  It is difficult to track a payment made by W/U in case there is some sort of dispute as to when or if the payment was made.  Can you not open a checking account and have an automatic debit?  On their end, using W/U is like you coming to their office with cash.  That's why they are pressuring you to use them.  And yes, isn't there a pretty big fee to use them?  A fee W/U charges?

Here's something you might want to check out.  Look at those reloadable Visa type gift cards.  See what the fee is to reload them.  If it is less than W/U and if there is some easy way to reload them and this company will accept it, then you might be able to get this done.

No, I don't work for them.

Predatory Lenders

AUTHOR: VinceWyldeShow - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 12, 2011

This company appears to harass even accounts in good standing. They make harassing and threatening phone calls, and they gouge fees and penalties.

Contract or not, there are some practices that are illegal and out-of-line, and I am sure you'll find a class-action lawsuit.

From personal experience, this company called me 3 times a day, whether I was late or not, trying to get me to pay with Western Union, even though doing this makes the payment chronically late. Interestingly enough, even though Credit Acceptance insists the use of Western Union for payment (which I refused for security reasons), they hit you with a late fee every single payment late on THEIR chosen system. Enough late fees that you don't cover, they repo the car. This is legal? It can't be. This company needs immediate investigation. None of this is on the level.

Addressing the the "EMPLOYEE" comment. I'm sorry to say, you're incorrect. All bill-collection phone calls are belligerent, threatening, and 99% lies. But don't take my word for it, check out Dave Ramsey's website. Bottom line, if a Bill Collector is calling, prepare to lose 30 minutes of your life you'll never get back and all to accomplish nothing.
