CrossCheck Thieves, Liars, harrassement California

Last year I accidentally overdrew my bank account. I had originally wrote a check to Petsmart for my pets care. The check bounced, and was immediatly sent over to crosscheck for collection purposes. In the meantime crosscheck sent the check threw to my bank account for which it cleared, they then sent it back threw a second time and once again it cleared, AGAIN!

Crosscheck then started calling me at all hours of the day and night wanting me to pay for the check. I told them dozens upon dozens of times that the check had been paid, and not just paid once but twice! I spoke to a man named "Lance" every single time and every single time he was rude and obnoxious. I told him, I have my bank statements right here, you have taken this out of my account twice. He did not believe me. I contacted my bank and my bank in turn sent them all information that they would have needed to verify this. Yet, they continued to contact me.

Finally I called them to find out what was going on, I spoke to a woman whom said that Yes that I had recieved the payment from my bank account but that the money was stuck somewhere, and they would have to file some sort of paperwork in order to get the money. I never heard another word for over a month. Then they start calling me AGAIN, wanting payment.

IN the meantime, they had ran a COPY of the check threw my bank account 12 times, making me accrue 12 NSF fee's totally well over 360.00. I explained to them once again, I have paid you twice, you continue to run a "copy" of the check threw my account when there is no money there, and now you have well over cost me 500.00 for a 140.00 dollar original check! ONce again I hear nothing for months. One evening a collection company called that I had never heard of, they said they were trying to collect for a check written to Petsmart. I explained to them THIS HAS BEEN PAID!

Eventually I got sick of it, and contacted the MIssouri Attorney Generals office, they in turn sent a letter to Crosscheck and crosscheck sent a reply saying that the account had been settled. I in turn sent another complaint to the Missouri Attorney General regarding the money that had been paid the 2nd time, as well as all the NSF fee's I recieved due to them running a copy of the check threw.

A few months later, I recieved a response from Crosscheck saying that "They had been generous in closing the account, considering despite my claims that the check had been paid it had not." Basically I am out over 500.00 dollars because Crosscheck does not know how to run their business. I eventually just gave up, have paid off all of the NSF fees, and decided that taking the 500 dollar loss is better than dealing with these ignorant, rude people.

I would suggest to anyone who is having to deal with Crosscheck, to completely avoid them and contact the company that you originally wrote the check to. It would be much easier. Crosscheck has rude customer service representatives, who will call your house at 10 oclock at night. If you ever are contacted by "LANCE" just hang up the phone, he is completely useless.
