CURVES FOR WOMEN CHARGED FOR SERVICES AFTER NOTIFIED OF CANCELLATION ripoff SANFORD Florida

5/2/07 Just got off the phone with the owner of the Curves for Women, Sanford, Fl. In February, the Seminole Town Square Curves closed suddenly. There was a message on my answering machine. I called them back and was told my membership would be transferred to Lake Mary.

I was not told that because of this closure that my membership could just be closed out with no penalty. I told them that Lake Mary was too far. There was one in downtown Sanford and I told them that I would check the distance. I went to the downtown Sanford that same week and realized it was too far.

I went in and spoke to a young woman. I did not get her name. I told her that I did not want to continue my membership. She gave me pen and paper to put it in writing. She couldn't find my file, but said it was probably in transit and she would leave all the information for the owner. I thought that was it.

However in March, my credit card was charged $31.03. I went back down to the Sanford Curves and spoke to a woman that I am sure said she was the manager. She also could not find my file and said Lake Mary must have it and must have charged my account. She was very nice and told me to stay touch about it.

I called Lake Mary and a woman named Judy worked for days looking for my file. She very nice, keeping me informed of her progress. She eventually found my file was in Sanford. By then my charge account had been charged again for April, $31.03. I cancelled my charge card.

I went back to Sanford Curves on 4/12 and was told the owner was on her honeymoon but would definitely call me back as soon as she got back. They didn't have the authority to credit my account. Never heard from owner. Called again last week. I was told the owner would call me. Gave them my cell phone again (they had it and my home number from two prior visits) but heard nothing from the owner. Both my home phone and cell phone have answering machines.

I called again today and said I wanted to hear from owner today. The owner finally called me back stating that she had tried to reach me which there is no record of other than today! She stated that she had no record of my visits and that she didn't have a manager but that if I faxed her a letter of cancellation today, she wouldn't charge my account again. She refused to refund March and April even though I went over all the contacts.

At the Sanford Curves, I had spoked to a Johnea, Darla and Amy as well as another woman that I didn't get her name. She said that I should take it up with Seminole Town Center which is out of business and wasn't concerned that she had a very unhappy customer.
