I had the exact same experience with this terrible company, right down to the old "we had the pair you were looking for, but found a small defect and had to backorder them".
First I ordered a pair of sunglasses from their site that were described as being the 52mm frame size. When I got them, they were the 54mm size. I called to complain and was told that I should have specified what frame size I wanted, even though only one was offered! They told me to return the sunglasses for an exchange. I trundled off to the post office and paid up to ship them back. I was never reimbursed.
This is when Stanley Diebold entered the picture. He told me that he had the glasses in the 52mm size but found a small defect and that the ones I want are on backorder. This was April 2. I said ok, fine I'll wait. Weeks went by and I emailed Stanley and was told they were still on backorder. Weeks later I emailed again and got the same response. Finally it was mid june and I emailed Stanley and he said his "Ahole" supplier had neglected to tell him that they were in stock.
I finally got the glasses 4 months or so after originally ordering them and lo and behold they were scratched! I emailed them and told them I'd had enough, I just wanted a refund. I paid $11 to send them back insured and waited. Looking at my credit card statement I saw that they had only credited $144 of the $195 I had paid. After calling them and being told I was being charged a 20% restocking fee, on a defective item no less, and complaining to my credit card company, they refunded me the addtional $50.
I never did get back the $20 I paid on shipping to return their defective and incorrectly sized items. I lost the will to call these creeps up and even try.
The important lesson here is that when buying luxury goods you better think carefully about going through a shady outfit like this!
