Its really a shame that the VA has such poor people and standards. The dirtiest and I mean dirtiest hospital I have ever been to has got to be the VA hospital in Lake City, FL. It stank, there was trash on the floor. Just apalling. The VA claims to have high quality healthcare. maybe in a third world country. The doctors seem to have gotten their licenses and degrees from cracker jack boxes. You try to explain to them what is wrong and they proceed to tell you what is wrong. Usually they are wrong and the answer to everything is more medications or surgeries. They use inexperienced students and doctors that couldnt get a job in any other healthcare setting. They send nasty letters telling you what you will and wont do or you will be barred from the VA.( I earned my right to visit VA facilities in Iraq twice.) Most of the people have no clue about military life or combat so they just bounce you around hoping to get it right. Most of the people only meet the minimum requirements for employment so the quality of the people is low, most are unhelpful or flat out rude. They claim to not have your medical records but somehow are able to diagnose issues without seeing you. Hopefully you dont live far from a VA emergency room when you have an emergency. For the most part they wont even pay for emergency medical care if you go to a civilian E.R. so you have to suffer until you get to a VA hospital or pay out of pocket. You could probably get better medical care from a chimpanzee.
