It's a shame you don't have negative stars.
I took a single class from Devry years ago, which I paid for at the time. Obviously Devry agreed that I'd paid, since they sent me my final grade, and later sent several transcripts out to other institutions.
Five years later, I discovered that Devry had turned my supposedly delinquent account over to some disreputable collections agency. When I called Devry, they wouldn't talk to me about it because they'd turned it over. The collections jerks weren't interested in anything, including receipts that proved I'd paid. I finally had to get an attorney to straighten it out for me.
Of course we all know how disreputable collections companies are, and the kinds of people they routinely hire and use. Devry turned my account over with my social security number as the account number, so I've had no choice but to put watches on my information with the credit bureaus and on my individual credit accounts.
It's impossible to tell whether they're thieves or simply incompetent; either way, these are not people you want to do business with.

Stay away from DeVry

I have to laugh when people write that schools like DeVry are in the education business. They are clearly in the marketing of education business and could care less about the student.
If you truly want an education, go to a good public, traditional school or university.
A friend of mine used to work for DeVry in the online dept. It is a boiler room/sweatshop. I am told that you have to make 200 calls a day, personally contact 15 people everyday, have at least 8 applications on the books every week and out of those apps, 60% should be starts.
I sort of feel sorry for these people and that is probably why they use such high pressure tactics on students when they call us.
The financial aid dept is a nightmare! Professors, success coaches, mentors etc. are all part of the marketing ploy. The professors range from okay to really lousy or way below average. Success coaches never get back to you no matter how many times you call and leave messages. In one instance I did get a return message from my success coach who I was assured would get back tomein one day or he would be fired five days after I contacted him. And that was via email and the success coach didn't even have a devry email address.
And please pay no heed to these people who defend DeVry. They are at best, 99.99% of them, DeVry employees, mostly in the sales dept or teachers, professors, success coaches struggling to hang on to their jobs and their $45,000 salaries. If the student loses $45,000 on a student loan and frivilous education from DeVry, no big deal. But don't you dare mess with their salary.
Stay away from DeVry. Disgruntled DeVry students, feelfree to post all you want and don't be scared off by these so called "DeVry Grads" who are really DeVry employees looking out only for their own interest.

Write to the credit bureaus

Steph-
If there are inaccuracies on your credit report, and you wish to dispute it, you must submit a dispute to the three major credit bureaus. Include as much documentation as possible which supports your case. They will investigate it, and if they find that the information is incorrect, they will delete it.
You should also contact the Financial Aid department at the campus you attended and bring documentation to show that your class was paid. If they can't or won't help you, go over their head and contact the corporate office.
Be proactive!
