In oct 2008 I canceled my service with sprint. I terminated early and paid a 250 fee to do that. In Jan 2009 I started getting a sprint bill. I contacted them and said that I did not have sprint and to stop billing me. It took some time on the phone but was told that it was resolved. I continued to get bills. I contacted several more time with the same result. Than I was told that i was being charged for early termination,  That was funny because I explained that I paid 250 to early terminated when I closed the account. The bill now was more than 150.00. Then I started recieving collection notices. I told them the same story and they said the billing would be sent back to sprint. Now diversified is the new collection and they want 104.41 to close the account. I told them that this is a false bill and I would not pay it. They theatend to place it on my credit report. I told them again that I was not paying a bill that was not mine. Help me please

Billing cycles are billed in the rear, you canceled your service in October of 2008 you say. Let's say you cycle, the day your service ended and started over every day was the first, on October first you would have started and ended a new cycle, it takes a few days to calculate the previous months usage and then 5 business days later you receive the
bill, at this point it would already bee about 10 days into your next cycle, you look a the bill, decided you have had enough, and call up to end service, but your already ten days into the next cycle, but as far as you see, this is it, you asked about a etf fee.

The problem here is that a ETF can not be paid until it is added to the bill, which would
arrive after the bill cycle you were already in, for the 10 days that you called in to cancel on, meaning the next bill you got would have been for the time frame that you decided to cancell and the one after that would have been for the etf. So you cant actually pay your etf fee at the time of disconnecting service, how can you when they don't even know what your bill will be? I have worked for many Cellular providers and I have work in collections, and like everyone else I am human and have been on the other end of these calls myself, the billing systems for services rendered before billed are the same, the programs used are all
copies of each other they all operate on the same prince-able. It's like trying to argue about cars, when what one is saying is it is a vehilce that is motorized that and gets you from point a to b, the type, the speed, the design, all that is here say, that fact remains is the
fundamentals dont change.

"What is your current mobile telephone number area code first?" Do you know why customer care, stores ask this first when you go to pay a bill? Unless you have a active phone still and get lucky enough tog et one of the few call centers that are still own and ran by the actuall cellular provider these days? Cause disconnected accounts are not in their data
base. The FTC, who rules over Cellular providers and colelction agencies and anything else that uses phones or has phone based business  including telemarketers, as a recycling rule, a phone number must be set aside, after is has been disconencted for a duration of 30 days, to that those who call will have a chance to erase the number for individuals still trying to contact you, we have all heard the message before. "I am sorry, the number you are trying to reach, has been changed disconnected or is no longer in service, please hang up or try your call again"

What that means is before you have even got your last bill your number, so you can pay your etf fee, the number has been assigned to a different person, and is now their active mobile telephone number, or isnt even in their active data base anymore encase it was a port out, think about a port out, you TAKE the Number from one Company to Another,
meaning?.......you can't pay your bill by going into a store anymore or calling customer service.

Auto bill payers/ online bills payers are the cake winners, they sign up with paperless billing and they get mad when a bill doesnt arrive, it gets sent their email instead, but when the account is terminated, btw your account is your phone number as a backup, they no longer have a option to view the bill, cause it isn't their number anymore, only way to fix that is to cancel online bill view only before you terminate service. pst, you need a active account to pay a bill online as well, others wise, like when you got into a store to give your old number or call customer service and give your old number, your just gonna wind up paying...."drum roll" SOMEONE ELSE'S BILL.

Do some investigation, ask questions, give the last four only of your social to the bill collector, every 9,999 people have the same ones, save some time, make sure they are talking about first, then ask for a account number, then check your old bill and see if they match, most people have accounts they dont think of like a phone they got for a caousin, friend, sibling, what have you, or that aircard they got for the daughter/son for college so they can access the internet and study at school, or he onstar device in their car, and even certain gps system, all are cell companies plans that people forget or dont realize are cell phones, that are just designed to be of a different kind of use, then what you expect a phone to be.

If a Collection agency is calling you, it is already on your report 9 times out of 10, btw, be nice to the bill collector, most companies do give some ability to settle the debts, but in small, ways, most businessdon't sell the debt until about year 5, meaning the Collector is still stuck on the criteria of the owner of the debt, owner means company that
hired them, the debtor is the ex customer who owe's the bill. They still have to follow those rules, most will be willing to do whatever they can to get it out of their desk, one less account to call, but dont be ridiculous, I laughed repeatedly at the people calling in making
demands, to have a debt removed from credit report, not up to the collector, or demanding a sif, rule one if the demand, dont give it to them, if they deserve it you can though. too late to dispute a charge when a colelction agency has it, their is a dispute process though, but I have yet to see a contract from a cellular provider which doesnt state your dispute process it to first pay the bill and then file your dispute and wait for the response, part of this is to weed out those who are just trying to lower the bill for no reason other money, and the other part is to weed out those trying to just get a debt removed from their credit
report without ever paying, these cell companies have been around for eyars folks, you think people haven't tried these tactics before?

Every time a loop hole was found within days it was corrected, almost every company has a back page on the bill for stuff they are changing from month to month to cover loop holes just like the ones I am talking about. Not saying you are, I am putting in everything for other who may find this, and read around, alot of people first jump to conclusion and state
not fiar, unjust they robbed me, and dont realize what they did to themselves, it all boils down to, don't assume, ask questions if you don't know and you ask, whats the worst that can happen? You get informed?
