The football teams of two local schools sold the 2-night hotel stay promoted by Encenta. I purchased a voucher and sent the activation form in.
I was informed by friends who had also purchased the voucher that they had received a letter informing them that this promotion could not be honored as the company Encenta was involved with for this enterprise had gone out of business.
I contacted the football coach at our local high school and let him know about this situation, but he had just found out about it himself. He, in turn, contacted Marriott and was told that they are developing a class-action suit against Encenta and will not honor any discounts or promotions regarding Encenta, Inc.
Today I contacted Encenta Promotions, Inc. by phone and stayed on the line to speak with an operator. The lady I spoke with told me that the company had, indeed, gone out of business but Encenta was offering customers who had purchased the voucher a choice of three different options, those being:
1. Up to a 50% discount on hotel stays for the period of one year. --or--
2. Discounted golfing. --or--
3. Discounted entertainment and skiing.
I requested, by phone, the hotel discount and am now awaiting the letter confirming this. The lady I spoke with informed me that this discount applies to "all hotels". I will post here the information I receive regarding the letter upon receipt of it. I won't be convinced that this is an equal trade-off until I receive this information and attempt to use the discount next month.

A Note to Michael... I was NOT provided with the URL to a website listing the 22,000 properties who are honoring this membership.

Actually, Michael, while the lady I spoke with at your company was very courteous and helpful, I was NOT provided with the URL to a website listing the 22,000 properties who are honoring this membership.
I truly hope that you weren't implying that I neglected to mention said website in an attempt to further vilify your company when, in fact, this is the first I've heard of it. I simply would not do such a thing.
I wonder if you have any further information on this YFI company. It seems unfortunate and unfair that Encenta is taking the rap for this screw-up if YFI was the one doin' the screwin', as it were.
Thank you for your reply, Michael. I do appreciate it.
Very Sincerely,

What you are saying is correct.

YFI, the company that purchased the certificates from Encenta, has indeed gone out of business. The key to what you have stated above, which is the reason why none of those specific certificates will be honored, is your comment that you PURCHASED your 3 day 2 night getaway. These certificates were never authorized to be sold by any other party. They were merely to be used as a Thank You, for donating to your schools program, and here in lies the problem.
Regarding the offer that our company is extending to you at our cost and our loss, this is correct, and you should receive that membership shortly. Keep in mind that it is not ALL hotels, but does include 22,000 nationally. There is a website you can go to look at all the properties, which I am sure the receptionist provided to you.
Good luck, and we are sorry that you were ripped off as we were, by YFI and its principals.
