Erie Construction Mid-West Inc. Former emplyee Toledo, Ohio

I am a former sub-contractor of Erie Construction Mid-West Inc. I am not writing this because I no longer sub-contract for them, but the issue's I have is why I quit. During the few years that I worked for them it was very common for a homeowner to be very frustrated if not outraged towards the company due to salemans lying to them to get a contract signed.

What would happen is that I would go do an install, which included everything in my paper work, then find out the saleman promised alot more than what I was there to do. It seems they were doing this on 95% of jobs. They would promise the world, get the contract signed, tell you they would be there during install, "to make sure it's done properly", and they never, ever heard from them again.

This was leaving me to deal with an angry homeowner, which in the long run complicated things for myself and the customer. In fact, the salesman in my area didnt know a thing about the projects they sold. How can you sell a roof and not have a ladder? Or measure attic space if you cant even fit in the access door?

It's just wrong to treat people like that. Especially when your prices are just unbelivable. For example, I have done roof-overs, which is putting a layer of shingles over an existing roof and collected checks that would blow your mind. Put it this way, I as a small construction company, would tear off everything down to the trussess, re-sheet it, then put the roof on for less than half of what they charge.

And metal roofs, dont get me started. They finance people who cant afford an asphalt roof much less the metal. It's nothing personal and I'm not getting into anyones financial business but put it this way. I've installed a $32,000 metal roof on a small 20x40 modeular home. There you go. The roof is worth more than the home itself, or atleast it costs more.

Honestly, in the three years I worked for these guys, I had one job that everything went smooth, and everyone was happy. ONE. Not a very goos track recordat all. Everything that I said in this is true. Just wanted to let consumers to do some research and shop around before hiring anyone, especially Erie.
