Erie Construction Mid-West, Inc. Ripped off Senior Citizen Toledo Ohio

6-30-08 Salesman had me sign contract for $15K for 4600 sq ft (46 squares/4 bundles to a sq. = 184 bundles) roofing with 50 year warranty and gurananteed me there would never be leaking around skylites again. He said he would have Sam bring me the warranty in writing within 3 days.

7-10-08 Sam finally appeared with no advance appt.& had me sign paper that anything the salesman told me was not valid. I went over the problem with skylites and he also guaranteed they would never leak again. I asked for 1 week notice before installers came. He gave me warranty book that tells me nothing so I asked for warranty to be put in writing in detail on company letterhead.

I will be 70 years of age in Nov and am used to dealing with honest people. 08-06-08 truck appeared with shingles and all other items needed for roof.
08-07-08 Installers appeared wo advance notice. I asked Boss if he would go over the skylite issue with me when he got a chance. An hour later he looked at my skylites and said he could not guarantee anything unless he could pull them up & he could not do that as that would break the seal. We called Sam....and argued and argued. I sent installers home.

08-07-08 Sam had man from KC office call me. That man said after much confusion that they would buy 2 new skylites if I would buy 2 and they would install them. I told him they should buy all four & install since I had been lied to. Sam called back and said no period..Guess they were just kidding.

I got on the phone and checked out the retail prices locally on all material they had delivered (exact same brand). Total was a little over $5K. That leaves them over $9K for installing. They had already made big profit off the material since they Mfg. it. PLUS Salesman quoted me on 184 bundles I rec'd 150 bundles ($963.22 retail difference).

It is now end of August and my roof is still not on. They call with more lies but nothing in writing. I think Gov. Blunt just signed a new bill on frauding Seniors. Erie also has Better Business Bureau blocked so a person cannot file against them online. I did it in writing but it has not appeared online.
