Move from Hell with Expediant Van Line: Aug / Sep 2007

We recently moved from MA to NC and had to obtain a mover quickly when our place sold in MA. My wife searched out 5 movers and regrettably settled on Expediant Van Lines out of Brooklyn, NY because she liked their customer service and their estimate was in the ballpark with the other van lines.

Expediant Van Lines: USDOT#1572258 / MC#565035

Little did she realize who she was dealing with. She flew to MA to let them in the day of the move. 30 minutes after their arrival I received a call at the office from her and the driver ( Alfred ) denoting that Expediant had mis-estimated the size of the load and the amount of packing supplies required. The estimate was now $7,900 from the original estimate of $2,700. I called Alfred's supervisor Sam at Expediant (888-575-7711) and we negotiated down to $6,500 with me truly not understanding the additional packing costs and load from the original estimate, but we had to be out in 2-days for closing of the sale and really had not choice at that point.

I knew we were being ripped off but were in between a rock and a hard place with the close in two days. You would at least hope if they were going to rip you off that the move would be smooth. The movers took 15 hours to pack and load with my wife furnishing lunch, drinks, a tip, and helping with packing.

We requested the load be delivered on 3 specified dates and was assured it would not be a problem. The load came a day late after much agonizing phone calls and the inability to receive a status update. The load was delivered by sub-contractors and Expediant had assured us they do not use and that there would always be at least 3 people to load and unload. 2 people showed up to deliver.

The positive was the sub-contractors were great. However, the condition of the personal belongings were not. Our expensive mattresses were filthy and not put in boxes as the work order called for. Over half our furniture is damaged and most everything was just thrown in boxes with no wrapping. The sub-contractors said it was an embarassment.

We are currently trying to reach someone at Expediant to file a claim and no one will take a call. Amazing, they were available when cash was to be paid or we needed a sales estimate. They are paid in full.

Also, they used less boxes than the original estimate and their was very little bubble wrap used. We should have never paid more than the original estimate of $2,700.

In case their are more of you getting the run around from the crooks at Expediant here is the insurance company that is legit and more than willing to help you:

Cargo Insurance Policy#CGV4936900
Vanliner Insurance Company
Address: One Premier Drive / PO Box 26352
Fenton, MO 63026
Telephone 636-343-9889
Fax: 636-305-4270

I spoke with their customer service dept today @ Vanliner insurance and they emailed a claim to me today.

We also spoke to two individuals that asked to not be identified at Expediant today that told us if we filed the claim through Expediant it would never be filed with the insurance company and that the best thing we could do was to contact the Dept of Transportation to try and have them shut down. This company was formerly ( Victory Moving ) and had been fined heavily in the past to reopen under a new name.

Expediant/All Victory

AUTHOR: Sharon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 07, 2007

Expediant Van Lines is the new name for a company previously operating under the two names Victory Van Lines and All Victory Moving & Storage.

They had offices in NY and CA, coincidentally in the same 2 warehouses in which Expediant now operates. Expediant is using boxes with Victory's name printed on them. Their DOT inspection reports shows that their own driver admitted to operating under both names when pulled over. Yet they continue to deny that they are the same company.

All Victory closed down while avoiding paying two separate DOT fines totalling over $26,000 for all sorts of scam mover tactics, the likes of which Expediant is continuing.

Michael, if you've called Expediant to file your claim and nobody is taking your calls, just go right to the source.
