Express Home Solutions - Almost got me! Garden City, New York

I needed to refi but didnt qual for certain programs......this guy calls me....guess some links online add me to the lists that get cold called....anyway....he made it very easy....came to my home...all suited up....nice car....we gave info ...he did worksheet....then dropped the bomb....his fee.....1/2 now...came out to $900 or so.....ok...we post date .....few days go by....call mort company...no paperwork processed or even received....we call the guy....he says it doesnt go thru normal channels it goes to underwritting....ding ding ding......all our alarms go off...now its the first and he is supposed to deposit our check...still mort comp has no papers......We rush to bank...stop pymt on check...change bank acct.

Wouldn't you know it....we havent gotten a call back AT ALL....not even a why did you stop pymt on the check.  He originally said....if we arent approved...we would get refunded...but he conveniently left a sheet of paper-preprinted where in one small paragraph says if not approved money would not be refundable. 

Almost got scammed there.  Oh...on another note.....they did have a website that conveniently was available when he told us to look him up....but the day we contemplated stopping payment the site was no where to be found. 

My mortgage has changed servicers since then....and my rep has told me....NO ONE should be charged for loan modification.....go directly through your mortgage company and file the proper forms with backup. 

Be careful and extrememly aware of these types of companies.
