- First of all, the rooms look nothing like the website shows. They are worn and dirty, with the cheapest hotel furnishings I have EVER seen, and the rooms are unclean and seedy. When we checked into 312, we found dirt, change, a cigarette box and a banana peel behind the so-called "credenza."
Some other "gems" about this hotel:
- There is NO housekeeping whatsoever. But you don't get any discount, and the website says NOTHING about this. Not even clean towels.
- The halls SMELL of filth and dirty feet.
- There are no services and no amenities whatsoever. There were no hangars - NONE - in the rooms. For a 3-night stay there was only one tiny piece of bath soap and a handful of small, worn and rough towels. The so-called efficiency area was dirty, the counter had cigarette burns, and there was no dish soap. The windows were dusty. The view is of a desolate parking lot.
- There was virtually no staff at all, and none after 5 pm on Thanksgiving. This is a security and safety nightmare and a disaster waiting to happen.
- At any price, this is a rip-off. For almost $90 a room-night, this was an ENORMOUS rip-off.
STAY AWAY FROM EXTENDED STAY AMERICA!!!
MORE LIKE "EXTENDED NIGHTMARE!!!"

Sorry you had a bad experience

I am sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience with our hotels. Just a few things... We do provide dish soap, body/face soap, tooth brushes, combs, shampoo, and razors at your request at the front desk free of charge. Please understand that we try to provide a clean comfortable stay for guests taht will be in town for an extended amount of time. We do things a little differently such as limited housekeeping services, limited front desk hours and limited amentities as a way of saving our guest money. All these hotels that provide a "free" breakfast, internet, and such, work that cost into your room rate. By cutting out all those extras, we are able to pass those savings on to you. We will also be happy to provide you with fresh linen at your request as well. I will agree with you that alot of our properties are begining to show their age, With the economy in such shambles, we have not been able to remodel our hotels as we would like. The property I work for is now 10 years old and although we are begining to show signs of wear, we work very hard to provide a clean well priced room for you no matter how long you stay.

It's Not Really Bathwater

John, I did report this to management, in writing, on email and verbally. I did not receive the courtesy of a reply to any of them.
Others, above, posted comments that have little or nothing to do with my experience in Edison, NJ, which was supported with facts. Russ from MO said he had a great stay in Orlando, FL. Good for him, but how does that have ANYthing to do with my experience. It does not.
I don't know about the conditions or service at any other property in this chain. I do know that this property was filthy and disgusting, unsafe, and a significant rip-off. Moreover, the website of this property and chain said nothing about no service and no on-premesis staff.
Stay here at your peril.

Please do not throw out the Baby with the Bath Water

I am SO sorry you received a poor quality room, and even more sorry that you recieved poor customer service (I am a Customer Service Guru ;)
However, I must say this is certainly the exception to the rule.
Part of the value in the extended stay product comes from the labor saved from providing weekly housekeeping service. Also, fresh towels and linens can be provided upon request.
I have been in the hospitality industry for 8 years and I can say that even the best chains have absolute DUMPS in the mix.
Reporting your concerns is the right way to go. This will alert the company/management that there needs to be change.
Yours in Hospitality

One Bad Apple

I stayed at Extended Stay in Orlando for five months. There was housekeeping twice a week, linens replaced only on request. The room was comfortable, the staff courteous, and my time there was pleasant. Just because one property is substandard is not a reflection of the whole chain.

Info for William on Extended Stay America

William,
I am familiar with these properties as I have stayed in several. They are not really intended for short stays of less than a week, as the name suggests.
They specialize in weekly rentals where people live there for several months on a week to week basis. They do not offer daily maid service, as you are not in a motel/hotel. You are in a weekly rental, even if you only used 3 days.
Very rarely do efficiencies provide such items as dish soap. I have never seen it.
On the weekly rentals, even your linens are an extra charge, as is housekeeping.
What kind of view were you expecting? After all, someone needs to face the parking lot!
If you are only staying for 3 nights why not just get a Motel 6 or something like it? Save on the room, and eat out. Many have small refrigerators, microwaves and even coffee pots!
Most nicer hotels have all amenities you wanted and unless you are staying on a weekend, the rates are similar.
