On 16/11/09 I was interested in purchasing a single service manual file off the internet and found one offered by myfiles-express.com.  They had an introductory offer of $1.95 for 24hrs site access, which sounded fine.  I clicked the continue button and was taken to the next page to confirm my purchase, which I did.  Unfortunately the page also contained two more boxes, pre-checked, for further add-ons to the introductory offer, which I failed to notice.

The next screen told me my credit card had been debited to the tune of $81.50!  There was no screen prior to payment that showed the total amount I was about to pay, and therefore no opportunity to review or cancel my proposed purchase.

I contacted support@myfiles-express.com to explain the error and said that I thought it was bad practice to pre-check boxes, especially where a payment is concerned, without offering review of the total payment amount before purchase.

On 17/11/09 myfiles-express agreed to provide a full refund and sent me an email the following day to say that the refund had been made and should be in my account in the next 4-5 days.

Various messages have been sent between myfiles-express and me, but at this point I still have not received a refund.  myfiles-express state that they have made the refund and it will appear in my account soon.

On checking their site today (13/12/09) my account has not been cancelled and is showing as 'Premium', an odd status if you have refunded someone in full!

After 27 days it seems unlikely that their refund will suddenly appear and I'm left out of pocket by $81.50, for what I consider to be underhand dealing.

I would never deal with these people again.

files-express rebuttal

AUTHOR: Luther - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, February 04, 2010
Very interesting, but I must disagree...I've been dowloading files from Files Express for couple of months already and know for sure they are not scammers though sometimes it seems like they are. First of all they have a support center for customers who have some problems - I contacted them not once and always got response even if it took some time. The problem with overcharging happens all the time, especially if it's internet business and one has to be very attentive chosing this or that product. Try to keep in touch with support and I think you will be refunded.
