I was mailed a pre approved credit card offer reading that I needed to submit $35.00 processing fee and would be issued a Mastercard. I mailed the fee 2 months ago and then received a response about three weeks ago reading that they could not issue the card first promised but wanted me to send a deposit to receive a secured credit card. My $35.00 was never reimbursed.

First Savings Credit card is not a ripoff

I have had a credit card from first savings credit card that I have had for months now, and have never had a problem with the company. I recieved my card promptly and they did not charge me any activation fee at all. Also, they gave me a very low interest rate that is locked in for a year. I am very happy with the card and this company.

"PRE-APPROVED" doesn't mean guaranteed..

It means that they pulled a credit profile on you and you met the criteria for applying for the card. However, every pre-approved offer I ever received clearly states (albeit in small print)that issuance of the card is contigent on the credit check, income, etc., and that you may be offered a different card if you don't qualify for the one pre-approved.
I have had a First Savings card for almost three years and never had a problem.

My Positive Experience

I have been a customer of First Savings Credit of South Dakota for close to two years now. I have had nothing but great customer service, effective information and assistance avenues, and good security. I did not pay an initial "application fee". All fees were clearly lined out for me on the application. (There wasn't any more fine print than any other application I've used) Overall, I am very pleased with the service.

Darlene was promised an unsecured Mastercard if she paid $35.00. She paid $35.00 but did not receive an unsecured credit card. That's a rip-off.
Having to pay upfront to be considered for a credit card or loan is a dead giveaway that it's a rip-off company. It's also illegal in many cases, including this one because approval was represented as certain or very likely.

A different opinion of First Savings Credit Card
AUTHOR: Ellis - (U.S.A.)

I have been a customer of First Savings Credit Card for over 2 years and I have found them to be a very good and reputable company. Since receiving my credit card, I have received four limit increases. I have had no problems whatsoever with them and when I call their toll-free number for information, they have been very helpful. As a matter of fact, I call them recently and the associate who helped me took the time to go over my expenditures with me, transaction by transaction, to make sure I was satified with the charges on my card. First Savings Credit Card is an excellent company and I plan to have a long relationship with them!
