I had a subscription to Fitness Magazine a year ago. I canceled my subscription via the online link on the website titled "cancel your subscription." This was confirmed on 5/11/2009. I was told that I would receive any issues that were currently sent out and that I would receive a refund.

Since then I have received an issue almost every month. I have tried and tried to get contact information but it seemed as though I can only contact them online. I figured since it was confirmed that my subscription was canceled on 5/11/2009 that I would no longer receive any issues and I would be refunded any balance.

I just received an issue and a bill stating that this is the first issue of my renewed subscription. I finally tracked down a number for customer service via a search of other fitness magazine complaints. I called and spoke with a girl named Heather who told me that she canceled the new subscription, saying that I signed up for automatic renewal. This is not true. I didn't even want to continue my subscription so why would I sign up for automatic renewal. I told her that I am showing a confirmation on their website that I canceled on 5/11/2009 and she told me she sees no such cancellation. She placed me on a brief hold and told me that since the subscription had run out, there was no way they could refund me the money.

I explained to her that if I canceled via their website and I have confirmation, there is no reason why I should be responsible for paying for an unwanted subscription regardless of what issues had been sent to me. This is their mistake for continuing to send me the magazine. Since I am showing a confirmation, they should honor that and refund me regardless.

I am very upset by their lack of professionalism. All I see in reference to this magazine is that they scam everyone and bill people unnecessarily. I am upset that she did not offer any means to rectify the situation. She just said "I'm sorry there is nothing we can do."
