Florida Blue: Lied and Cheated Me For $891.60 Florida

I attempted to purchase health insurance from Florida Blue at the start of 2015. I made sure to ask if they accepted credit card payments for premiums. They assured me they did and directed me how to make my first premium payment with my VISA. A couple of weeks later I couldn't find mention of how to make my next payment with my VISA so I called their help center. A man kindly explained that I could go to any CVS and pay there.

At the CVS they said, yes, we do accept credit card payments for Florida Blue but you must have a barcode ID on your bill. Mine did not. When I called back to customer service, they did a 180 and said, no, under no circumstances would they accept a credit card. I went online to a Florida Blue authorized agent's site and found the corporate announcement that heralded the partnership between them and CVS for credit card payment acceptance. I called back the company and asked to speak to my original help desk rep. He had disappeared - no record of him ever being there. I told them of the website and they denied it. I told them of the CVS rep and they said she was misinformed.

I fought them for two months, even involving the Consumer Finance division of the Florida government. Not only would FL Blue not accept my payments, they wouldn't cancel me as a customer. I learned that if they provided me with a form that another insurance company would treat me without prejudice. They refused to provide the form that said it was their fault for cancelling me and I had a difficult time finding any other company to take me on.

A state government employee told me that they had far more than the usual number of complaints about this company but that they were the biggest in Florida, played hardball with all their customers and ignored requests by the government to clean up their act. In the end, they cancelled me for lack of payment and now refuse to refund the $891.60 they took under false pretenses. They broke the agreement, ripped me off, blew me off and moved on.
