Garage Door Service ~ Opher ~ Huge Scam Denver Colorado

Our garage door spring broke and was in need of repair.  We called Garage Door Service.  They came immediately and said they could fix the spring but would have to come back because it was a custom spring as this was a double bay garage door.  He did not have this kind of spring in his truck.  He told me both springs would have to be replaced, since the other one could break at anytime.

Garage Door Service employee, Opher, came back on the same day a few hours later and installed the custom springs (and also replaced the other spring) and charged $829.  After a month, we noticed the garage door started to shake as it would lift and close.  Sometimes the garage door would lift right back up because of the shaking and tension it all caused when closing.  It continued to get worse by the week.  We called them back to fix it and Opher told us the garage door opener was now in need of repair and it would cost $300 to fix the gear sprocket or $500 to replace the whole unit.  He said nothing about the spring and that it was installed correctly.

Normal springs look straight, but the one he had installed looked all twisted and improperly installed!  So I sent Opher away, not trusting he was telling me the truth at all.

I called AAA Garage Doors in for a second opinion, and Steve told me it looks like the wrong kind of spring was installed and the tension was way too tight because when the operator is detached, the door won't even close all the way down without being forced.  He also said we were WAY OVERCHARGED!  Each spring should only cost $80 and labor about $100.  He also told us the bad installation and wrong spring caused the gear sprocket to bend that is now in need of repair.  We were RIPPED OFF!

BEWARE!of this company, as now I see that they hire only contractors and the warranty is only tied to the service technician who comes to work on your garage door ~ NOT the company itself!  There is no street address or website for this company and the email address is a gmail account.  Huge signs of a total SCAM!
