I received financing for Lasik treatment through Care Credit. The total amount was $3798.00. My first payment of $3000.00 was made online with no problems. My second payment for the remaining balance of $798.00 was made via check from my HSA provider om March 11, 2009. The account number and account holder's name was clearly and plainly provided with the check. On March 20, this check was cashed by Care Credit. However, the payment was never credited to my account.

I called the customer service line and was told they had no record of the payment being made. I made the minimum payment of $24.00 that month in addition to the $798.00 my HSA sent because it had not yet posted and I did not want to accrue late fees. I waited to see if the balance would be credited the full payment by the next billing cycle and it was not.

I again called the customer service number (they do not provide an email address, I'm sure if they did, their inbox would be flooded with complaints) and was told I'd need to mail a proof of payment, which I did immediately and also asked my HSA provider to do as well.

I still have not been credited for the amount of $798.00 and have been told that they will need to "investigate," and for some reason will not be completed until after the next billing cycle. Meaning, I'll need to pay the minimum payment for a second month in order to avoid late fees.

How much investigation is needed when I have clear proof of the payment being made, when it was cashed and all of my account information? Why should this take over a month? It seems that they are trying to get additional money out of me on top of that $798.00 check that they quickly cashed and didn't credit to me. After reading similiar complaints on the internet, it appears that Care Credit/GE Money Bank often "lose" payments made by people who are paying off their balances.

How to get help

AUTHOR: Ejay15 - (U.S.A.)

I was very persistant in getting this problem fixed quickly. Because GE Money Bank is the parent company of Care Credit, I went on GE's website to try and contact someone else. In their question/comment form, I again told my story and within a couple of hours, I had received a response. I was told to write to GE's****.>

GEMB SCAM - delay posting of payments to add interest and late fees

AUTHOR: Laurie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 09, 2009

FILE COMPLAINTS WITH THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION AND OFFICE OF THRIFT SUPERVISION.

FTC compiles complaint data and OTS works on your behalf to resolve the problems GEMB refuses to address.

GEMB is probably NOT INVESTIGATING AT ALL. They ignore valid customer complaints hoping you will just go away.

I have seen hundreds of this same complaint worldwide in regards to the Care Credit accounts while researching my own different issues with GEMB. My issues were resolved by the Office of Thrift Supervision, when GEMB would not even talk with me about it.

Just search on GEMB Complaints Care Credit Complaints, GE Money Bank complaints. You will find the care credit is the biggest scam -because they all start with 0 interest - by withholding payments to "make them late" allows them to charge accrued interest and late fees. And they usually do this with the LAST PAYMENT! because most use the full 12 month 0 % interest period to pay it off.
