I purchased a Geeks on Call franchise @ 11/2 years ago. When I spoke with Mary@geeskoncall.com I explained I had limited background in repairs. She assured me there was plenty of training available, as well as24 hr tech support. She also suggested I speak with several other franchise owners to ask their experiences, which I did. I sent the $20,000.00 franchise fee, which was deposited the same day. (Not so surprising now) the sent another $1,500.00 for training for my partner and me. I followed the "suggested" advertising program, "to attract more business than I could handle", as it was put. I got a VHS, yes a VHS along with some photo copied training guide, which appears to way out of date. Well, as you guessed, this was all a big smoke screen to get my money. I have had nothing but problems with the scammers, they don't return calls, my email has been blocked off and on for the last 6 months. I can't get a call back from Mary; of course, she is a sales person, not a support person. So I decided to toss in the towel, write it off, a expensive lesson.
Since then, I have researched other businesses, and low and behold, I meet Mary again, selling for another business, I recognized her voice and "spiel". I called her on it, she acted like she didn't know me, but, MARY, send my money back before I file suit on your scamming company, which will include you personally.

#2 UPDATE Employee
geeks on call scam

Yes, All true....I spoke to William. Bought in, put the $100,000+ in their bank. I got very poor support, I have some computer knowledge, but not a lot. I thought I would be trained. I was wrong. That was the first flag.
Also, the franchise fee was $30,000not the $20,000 promised. I received no leasing help, nocooperate advertising.
And the 4 days of training was a complete joke. I flew in to Norfolk, VA, had to pay for the flight and hotel myself, and took the BS training. Wow, what a waste that was. Turned out only to be 2 hr's in the class, and a few hours reading . Huge waste.
I also emailed Crofton Rhodes at crofton.rhodes@geeksoncall.com .Crofton is in Dallas TX, is the one who tried to give me computer support when I was totally lost. He was helpful for a time, then when he realized I had very little computer knowledge, he stopped replying to my emails.
They I was given contact info for Greg Shuk, greg.shuk@geeksoncall.com, he is in Kitty Hawk, NC. I emailed him, but we never spoke, told me he was too busy.
I eventually spoke to Richard Cole. Yeah, the Founder and Chairman. Told him my problems. Since they are doing so well, in scamming people, he offered me some hush money, and made me sign to not talk to my lawyers. I signed. Then I was called, tolf that they will have to hold off the payment, seems they were being sued by someone and needed the money. So I was screwed. Now they had me by the you know what, and I could not call my lawyer. Now I am stuck. I need my investment back. I am in a bind here with these scam artists.

Ask about the 24/7 Support and watch the BS fly

The support for this business is billed as top notch. So much so that when I was speaking with Gerald about a franchise he said their support was "unsurpassed". Well the reality of that was driven home quite early on. The 24/7 support doesn't exist at all, sure they accept e-mails all the time but people only work 9-5 and if they get to your stuff so be it. For the money you sink into this disaster you sure don't get much of anything.
