This company is the biggest rip off. I've had insurance with them for about 8 years and never have filed a claim. I had an accident and the other driver did not have insurance so I filed with Lieco.

No one would believe some of the things they did, but as I'm one to keep very good documentation I have proof of all of it. I truly believe its because Im a woman and they thought I would say nothing. A lot of good it did. Read on.

My car was (it was totaled) a 2004 Grand Am in perfect condition. I purchased it from where I work which a very reputable large dealership. It  had only 58,000 miles on it at the time of the accident.

Right before my accident I had new tires put on, new brakes and had it serviced.

The estimator didn't even go look at my car for 10 days. Geico had moved it several times. Once he did he told me my car value would be based on two things. 1) The condition of my car...fair enough and 2)  The area where I live...fair also.

Then they sent me a list of what was wrong with my car. Are you ready? Better sit down

Burn holes, (don't smoke) headliner tore, seats and floors stained, scratches on the dashboard, fuel leakage, been repainted, tire tread 60% gone. Now I'm saving the best for last. THEY SAID MY CAR HAD NICKS, SCRATCHES, AND DENTS!!!! Yes, you read it right. They counted off for a car that was totaled in a wreck having scratches and dents.

Oh it gets better...Then they told me they didn't base the value of a car by Kelly Blue Book or anything like that. They said used the Greensheet (personal ads paper) and other personal ads. When I disputed that saying the replacement value of a car wasn't cars that one didnt even know the condition of. Ooops, they got caught in that lie with many more to come. Then they told me they would send some vehicles for sale from dealerships. But since they couldn't find any vehicles like mine in the Houston area (another lie), and Houston being over 600 square miles they sent me vehicle for sale from all over Texas and other states. I did a little research and found 14 in the Houston area and sent them to them. Of course they were valued at a higher price. This has gone on for 3 months with lie after lie. They offered me $2,000 below what is supposed to be. I have had to borrow a car this entire time.

I have kept perfect documentation of everything and they still continue with this.

Someone needs to stop this company because theyve have gotten so big that they can get away with anything they decide to.

My advice is not to get insurance with Geico and if you have it either cancel it or go by and your car estimated every 3 months. (Get it in writing)

One last thing, has anyone ever hear of magical tires? Apparently they do exist, because mine grew tire tread when I produced a receipt.

Geico Are theves!

AUTHOR: Jackson - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, February 15, 2010

I completely agree with your assessment.  We were in an accident with a Geico Policy owner and Geico accepted full liability for the accident.  They sent their adjuster to see our car in the shop and totaled it on the spot saying it was too expensive to Fix.

So lets see I have no payments and low insurance payments and they are going to give me $1,000 for a car worth $8,000 in KBB so I get to go out and buy a new car and pay insurance premiums to match.  So Geico accepts liability and then screws me!  I don't think so!  My advice is:
Get an attorney right off the Bat!  I have now retained one and  by the time we're done with them it won't  be pretty.
Absolutely do not Take it to ANY of their recommended shops.  They high-ball repairs and low-ball value so they can total your car without reason and if they do the repair they will cut corners everywhere they can.

What they will tell you is that their shop will give you a lifetime guarantee.  Any Decent shop will do that.  Don't be taken by these jerks.  As the first complaint says if you have this company as your insurance company get another company.
I'll keep you posted
