My husband and I have owned our home for 11 years and never made a claim on our homeowners insurance. Recently our dishwasher hose had a small leak unbeknownst to us since it was completely underneath the dishwasher and behind a kitchen cabinet. We never saw any water whatsoever and only noticed an exterior cabinet beginning to deteriorate. GEICO t/a Travelers Insurance denied any coverage whatsoever citing a maintenance issue...?! Apparently they expect all homeowners to inspect any and all pipes, hoses etc inside walls, under floors, in ceilings and the like. If you have coverage with GEICO or Travelers you may as well cancel it because they will DENY all liability.
