I switched over to GEXA 10/21/2005, I received a contract that states no cancellation fee which was also confirmed by the sales rep. I didn't receive my first bill so I had it sent to me and have had to call each month to find out how much my bill is and the due date. A recent bill states that the price I paid for electric service [$26.09 for 251 KWH] was 10.39 cents per KWH, when the customer base charge $4.79 and the metering charges $9.36 are calculated the true charge is $0.1603 per KWH which is about the same as my WTU bill would have been however I wouldn't have had to call WTU to discover my bill details since it is available online.

Tired of the unreliable billing by Gexa I decided to cancel my service. I receive the final bill and there is an account deactivation fee of $15.00 of which I disputed. My contract states in large letters $0 cancellation fee, the account termination is part of the cancellation of service process since you can't have one without the other. The contract does state in small print else where that there is a $15.00 fee for termination of service.

Pardon me but isn't that the same as a cancellation? The contract is misleading, deceptive and conflicting because there is a fee for stoping the service. I asked an explanation of the fee, I was told it was a charge by Oncor. I asked what Oncor has to do with it since the lines and meter are owned by AEP WTU, that stumped her as she replied that the charge is not theirs but is the charge of who ever reads the meter.

The customer service sucks, expect to wait for 30 minutes or more to speak to a rude rep that will be of little or no help at all and forget about having someone call you back, it just don't happen nor does it happen with email.

I have filed complaints with the PUC, FTC and will file more complaints if neccessary to resolve this issue.

If you are thinking about changing over to GEXA you may want to think again. If you decide to do it anyway be sure to get a signed waiver of all disconnect fees because you will be dumping them in a few months.
