Harbor Freight Tools Purchased a Chicago 16HP Portable Generator on Sept 22,2010 Used it total of 15 hrs. Went to use it during hurricane 8/28/11 and it started, but would not gnerate electric power. Took it back to Harbo Worcester, Massachusetts

I purchased a Chicago 16 hp portable generator on 9-22-10. I used it approximately 3 times for 15 hrs total. I tried to use it during the hurricane on 8-28-11. It started, but would not generate any electric power.I took it back to harbor freight in worcester,ma, where i purchased it, this morning and they would do nothing for me. 

The owners manual states 1 yr limited warantee and 90 days guarantee. I paid 599.00 less 20% for this less than a yr ago.  They had no one to recommend to repair this machine. All of their advertisements state they stand bhind the tools they sell.  This is false advertising.

Please help.

I would like to thank elsa Gonzoleees customer service for all of the help she gave me.

I received my new generator yesterday.  It was delivered to my home and the damaged one picked up.

She is a great asset to the company. Efficient and friendly, kept on top of the problem.

Check Your Users Manual

It may have information on just this cirucmstance.
Also, be sure the breaker hasn't tripped.

Sometimes, especially if it's a push button breaker, it's hard to tell if it's tripped.

Occasionally the generator needs to be "flashed". Follow any instructions in the manual on trouble shooting.

Find someone with some generator experience if you're unsure how to go about this.

Good luck.  I don't know the terms of the warranty/guarantee, can't help there.
