HCCUA WATCH OUT - Ignore cancellation requests Florida
*UPDATE Employee: Response to Sandy
This company tells you that you have 30 days to cancel, but you can call or write all that you want within those 30 days, they WILL NOT cancel the policy. Plus, they require absolutely nothing in writing. I did not send back my application and they charged me anyway. I called and cancelled the next month. They continued to charge me. I involved my credit card company - who was on the line when they promised to produce a tape of my acceptance - we shall see. I have cancelled again today, after four months. We shall see if I continue to get billed.

#1 UPDATE Employee
Response to Sandy
AUTHOR: Jacquie - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, August 06, 2008
In response to this former Member's claim of nothing in writing, Members enroll during a recorded verification call in which their membership in HCCUA is again explained to them and the member must acknowledge their understanding of the membership and that they are enrolling at that time.
Members also provide billing information and authorize billing from their chosen account during the recorded verification. They are apprised of the free-look period and given a member services number to contact should they have any questions.
A Member Program Handbook is mailed out to them, prior to their membership effective date which includes all explanatory materials regarding benefits. In reference to production of the verification, we do allow members to listen to their own verification, if needed. Members may cancel at any time, for any reason, by contacting member services.
This former Member enrolled 01/08/08. During the verification call she acknowledged her enrollment and authorized billing. Her effective date was 02/01/08. Her fulfillment package was sent on 01/16/08.
She called in for the FIRST time and wanted to cancel on 06/23/08, stating she wanted to cancel and requesting to hear the verification call. She listened to her own verification on 06/24/08. She then called back later that day, stating that she had cancelled withinin 30 days! (Remember, her enrollment was on 01/08/08.) There is no record of any contact from her until the call on 06/23/08. Her membership was cancelled on 06/23/08 with benefits through 07/31/08.
