hotwire.com misleading

Be aware of this, when you book with hotwire there is an option tells you that your money worth it so if you buy the cancellation insurence ($38) you will have the flexibility, I paied that extra for the flexiblity but then immidate after I decided to reschuedule my travle date it turned out (after long hours of talking to their customer service) that I can not cancell or change the date even though it clearly stated in the confirmation email that I have paied for "Travel Protection – Cancellation Plan".

So if it is not possible to change/cancell why they tell you to purchase this plan??
