About a month ago I went to the drive-through at Jack in the Box (13th St/McDowell in Phoenix). I handed the cashier a twenty (straight from the ATM). She gave me change as though I had given her a ten. I politely informed her that I gave her a twenty. First she told me that she didn't remember what I gave her. I told her that I gave her a twenty because that's the only cash I had, as I had just come from the ATM.

Then she called me a liar and a thief and told me to leave. (At this point, not only did she have my $10, but she also had all of my food!) I told her that I was not going to leave until she gave me the rest of the change and my food. She again called me a liar and a thief.

A manager came to the window and asked me to leave. I explained that I gave a twenty and only received change for a ten, and that I wasn't going to leave until I got the rest of my change and my food. He said they would need to count the cash drawer. I told him to go ahead, and also to view the video, since they have a camera pointed at the window. After waiting 10 minutes for him to count the drawer (with the surly cashier glaring at me and muttering under her breath), the manager finally came back at told her to give me ten more dollars.

She basically threw the money at me and gave me a very insincere, single word "sorry". I still had to ask for my food, which by this time was cold! She called me a liar and what sounded like "b***h" when I drove away.

While all this was happening, I called the company's customer support line, but it was closed on the weekend. I emailed them when I got home. A couple days later, somebody from customer service called and was very polite. I explained what happened. She offered to send me coupons as an apology. I accepted, anticipating that I would use them, just not at that particular location. A month has gone by and I haven't seen the coupons.

I won't be back. I refuse to give business to places where their cashiers attempt to steal from you, and their customer support lies and makes promises they don't keep. If you decide to go there, be sure to count your change very carefully!

Sad State Of Affairs

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 30, 2007

Went out to eat twice last week. Both times got the wrong change. These kids today don't know HOW to make change. The first time the girl shorted me a buck. The second shorted herself $5 ON A $15 tab! Called her back and gave her her $5 back. She laughed and said it was probably cause she'd been out most of the night drinking. It figures. Why do you think macdonald's has pictures on their registers instead of number's? I do not go through drive thru's. That's just one of many reasons.
