I have been dealing with key bank for the past 3 years and I absolutely HATE them. They are complete rip offs, they place charges where they feel instead of the order of the charge so you'll end up over drafting your account. The last straw was when they charged a $38.50 overdraft fee, plus bounced the check, because my account was missing .8 cents. Now granted I didn't know that my account was short by .8 cents, but now having to pay Keybank $38.50 plus having to pay the company a fee for Keybank not authorizing the payment is a bit ridiculous for .8 cents. Especially since I have direct deposit via Keybank, so they were certain to get their mesley little .8 cents back. I have to change banks but now I think that all banks are rip offs and I would rather not deal. I'd rather pay for money orders instead of giving another bank any more of my money. I'm struggling as it is I don't need this additional stress.

Doing the same thing to me. Every case is different but my card was used at something I never heard of and if you call the number beside the transaction - it says invalid number. Report it to FTC, credit bureau, and go to the media.

Screw you, it's a RIP OFF

I don't care how you put it, "poor book keeping" whatever. $38.50 for .8 cents is a RIP OFF, and by your response so are you. If the funds aren't there then don't pay it, but to charge an outrageous amount of $38.50 for an amount so petty is a RIP OFF. It wasn't $50 short it wasn't even a $1 it was .8 freaking cents.

You were not ripped off

If the funds are available when you authorize debits and withdrawals then it doesn’t matter what order they process the transactions.

“Especially since I have direct deposit via Keybank, so they were certain to get their mesley little .8 cents back.”

Banks don’t process deposits before they are received.

It appears you do not maintain a current check register. Your poor bookkeeping is totally your fault; therefore, you were not ripped off.
