To induce owners to upgrade, the sales staff fabricates stories about the benefits of an off-site rental program.  When the rental company information is checked, the rental amount given by the sales person has been grossly exaggerated as well as the possibility for rentals of other timeshares owned by the purchaser, but by this time is is often too late to retract the contract.  Despite the information given by the sales person, it is not necessary to upgrade in order to get into the rental program.  The company should be very well aware that sales staff will say anything to make a sale, but does not seem to have any concern about this.  The company is very uncooperative about retraccting the sale.
