I bought furniture from Levitz Furniture #350 in Iselin NJ on March 3rd, 2003 on a 12 month deferred payment. I contacted customer service in October 2003 about a chair and ottoman made by ASHELY, Item code 21294960L and 21394960L, vendor codes 6400021 and 6400013.

The fabric skirt around the chair is uneven... on the right side of the chair hangs down on the floor a staple can be seen and the fabric on the ottoman is hanging down so that the cording around it no longer sits ontop of the cushion it hangs down in the middle of the cushion. The cushion is collapsing and this $750.00 chair looks like I picked it out of the GARBAGE. I am very dissatisfied with this chair and it is not yet payed for.

The technician gave me every indictation the chair was defective and would be replaced or credited to my account.

Three weeks passed and I received a letter from Levitz stating that they were unable to replace, repair or satisfy my purchace in any way, that the chair met manufacturer's specifications and standards. I guess the manufacturer "ASHLEY" has NO standards or specifications, Nor does Levitz.

According to my contract I am GUARANTEED against FOAM resiliency and FABRIC for ONE YEAR from date of purchase. The fabric has not shrunk pilled or faded... it has stretched and now seems to have too much fabric.

I, unlike Levitz, will keep my guarantee of paying for this furniture within 12 months, I do not break contracts. I'm sure this chair and ottoman will be in the trash soon because that's what it looks like. Make note that the room where this furniture is located is rarely used.
