A couple of months ago I received a phone call from this company and they were saying they were simply updating the listing for the church of which I am a pastor of on their online-yellow pages. They confirmed my information, and told me it would be posted for free.
To make a long story short, after staying on the phone with this telemarketer simply listening to his pitch (I always hate to hang up on them), he transferred me to another person who would be recording me confirm the information in the listing.

I confirmed that information, and then he begins mentioning something about an online service for $30 a month, and that I got a free 30 day trial, and an information kit would be mailed. He then tried to get off the phone real quick, and I stopped him and said I didn't want to partipate in any free trial, because we would not be interested in paying $30 a month. We talked a bit longer, and I got off the phone believing I had settled it.

I received my phone bill, and you guessed it - it had the $30 charge on it. I didn't know what it was from until I called company - ILD Services - who happen to be a billing company for other scams. ILD Services gave me the number to Liberty Online Services, who was the party responsible for the charges.

I called them, and hey cancelled my "account," but still are trying to require me to pay the initial $30 because I had "agreed" to it. They even played a tape that had some of my conversation, but the tape conveniently was stopped by the time I protested the charges. I have made a call to my states attorney general, and am awaiting for some information from them on any recourse I might have on the $30.
