Some time in early septemember I was SLC driving my Jetta and I hit a rock in a Apartment complex somewhere in Midville where constuction was takin place. Less then 10 seconds after I parked my car to examine the damage.

From what I saw, a bolt in my oil pan was completely bent and all the oil was quickly pouring out. first off I called my friend that does machanic work out of his home, and he said not to start the car and have it towed.. Then I called my father-in-law and he also said the same thing.

I got the number to Low book of SLC and they had a Tow Company come pick up the car.. The auto shop was closed for the weekend so I called back on monday, To get the new oil pan in. I picked up the car not to long after that, Thinking that would be the last of it.

Well on october 4th, 2007 I was with my sister and we walked out of a store on 12th st in Ogden.. When we turned on my car and started to leave the car would not accelerate past 20 mph and then smoke started coming into the car so we pulled over and I had my friend and uncle come look at it.. We opened the hood to check the oil.. What do I find.. Less then half a quart of oil, Which from the reciept they gave me said 3 quarts of oil hmmm I was very upset but it did not end there.

I went to low book the next day and they they determined because of the lack of oil a piston ring was broke and I needed a new engine.. I barely had the car for 3 months so I was angry and asked the Auto rep to explain to me why there was less then a quart of oil Which the paper they gave my in Salt lake said differently..

He then told me that he couldnt expain but assured me that he had his best tech working on it in slc. He also said that the initial damage to the oil pan could have caused a vibration in the motor and could have cause an oil leak and that could explain the blown engine.

He told me he would talk it over with the service department in SL and get back to me..

A few days later I went back to Low book of Ogden to follow up with it and they said that I must have been going 45 mph when the damage happened and I shouldnt have attempted to drive it back to ogden..? I just thought to myself.. WTF!!! and told them I was nowhere near the freakin freeway when this happened.. There response was.. "Oh" well let me check again.. Then they come back and said well they said there was a deep tear in a part of the pan which could have only been caused if I was going really fast!

I wasnt going more then 15 when this happened.. I spoke to 2 Volkeswagon specialist from Salt lake and they both said that Jetta's only use Aluminum pans which it doesnt take much to even cause a dent.. and is normally the only problems they deal with because of the brittleness of the pan.. I know what they are, I use to make stuff out of it in Jr. High and its not that strong.

The Volkeswagon specialist did also mention that they should have done a oil compression check when all the oil was emptied just to be sure there was no other damage or oil leaks.. Which I checked with the service department of Low Book and that was not done.

back and forth between the specialist and Low Book.. The service manager at low book told me that I havent had an Oil change and I more then went over my 3,000 deadline.. I recieved the car around 72,000 to 73,000 miles.. When the oil pan blew out it was at 78,000 but from what I was told by the specialist I barely made the deadline because Volkeswagon cares only need to be changed every 5,000 which says in the the "Official Owners Manuel" Which I still have.. The service managers response.. "Thats Bullcrap its every 3,000!!" The specialist's response to that was alot of Auto shops dont really know anything about Foreign cars because thats not what they usually deal with.

Pissed off enough I told them to go through with a new engine which cost around $2,700.. plus labor and other whatever they did brought it up to $5,600..

I asked to see what was done and thats when he also mentioned that the turbo that was in the engine that they bought from a company was broke and needed to be repaired which I have to pay for.. My thought was "Why should I have to pay for something they bought and it was broken"!!

Thats when after all the aggrivation I justs decided to take the advice givin to my by numerous people including the volkeswagon specialist because obviously something seems out of place and the advice was to contact a lawer or report to the DMV. Ive tried many places only to get referrals to somewhere else.. I honestly feel to this day between both Low books in SL and Ogden do not care, or even know whats happening.. If a company cant even get there story straight or tell me what was not done then obviously somethings out of place.

This issue has cause me more stress in this short while then I have ever been through my entire life.. Bottom line is I want my car back and I dont want to pay for there extras that they added in.. Like the bad engine part they bought.
