I have never had any problems with the regular Phillips televsions that I have purchased in the past but the Magnavox is a bad tv. I have owned my television for about 8 months and 3 months ago there would be lines on the television and then the television would turn off on its on. After that, the televsion got worse and had a lot of lines and only showed a partial picture and would change channels and turn its self off again. Now I have the tv sitting in my garage because I don't know what I want to do with it! I will rather throw it away or see how much it will cost to fix, but I will probably just trash it but it is too heavy to lift also. I have never had a tv to go bad in such a short period of time and will never purchase a Magnavox tv ever again. The tv was never moved around in my home and stayed in one place and it just went bad for no reason. I have a current tv I have in my guest room that I have had for twelve years and it is perfect and I have always been pleased with my Phillips brand tv's but avoid this one at all cost!

the older model tv's are made better than the newer ones

This is the first Magnavox that I have ever purchased and was bought at Best Buy. I have several tv's in the past that were purchased at Walmart and all work great. I actually think the older model tv's are made better than the newer ones. I have a White Westing House model that is off brand and it is several years old and some Phillips Magnavox that I have had no problems with. I have done some research online and found that my model Magnavox and many others made in 2002-2005 have the exact problems that my set is having with the lines and television automatically shutting off after a few minutes. My warranty is up I believe, but I will try to find there number and see if they will help but I am doubtfull. I have several tv's lying around my house or in storage that all work great but they are so old and outdated I like to have the flat screen newer and nicer model tv's :) I have 2/ 27 inch flat screen tv's from Phillips Magnavox purchased at Walmart for under 250.00 but not hdtv compatable and they have been really good tv's. The Magnavox is only so many months old but it is not flat screen and it is a 32 inch. I have never been pleased with the picture quality of the tv either. As soon as I got the tv home, I adjusted the picture many times and was still not pleased with it but Best Buy's return policy is so strict and basically they said that the picture was fine. I am thinking about buying a hdtv soon but you just cannot trust tv manufactures and so I am debating on which tv to buy. I don't want to spend thousands for it to go bad under a year. I believe I will go with Sony or Phillips but I am still debating. I will contact Magnavox and keep everyone posted, thanks for your responce!
