 Received mailer stating if you have experienced any of the following: Declined modification, Financial hardship, High or Adjustable Interest rate, Ngative equity, Sbprime or predatory lending.  Two items in list fit me: High or Adjustable interest rate (6.75%) and Negative equity. I called the number and explained that I didn't have a financial hardship and just wanted to lower my interest rate because of negative equity.  The person stated that they had a good working relationship with my mortgage bank. I answered questions about my gross income and outstanding credit debt and was told that I qualified for the program and the worst case would be no lower mortgage amount but would lower my interest rate to 4%.  They sent me an agreement to sign, which I signed based on the above. Paid $3,800.00 per the agreement. Received phone call that the bank came to  decision regarding the review of my loan modification.  The loan modification was denied.  I have never been in a position of hardship with regards to my mortgage payment.  I was under the impression that this process was because I had a negative equity and high interest rate and was the only reason I signed the agreement.  I feel that I was duped and told what I wanted to hear so I would sign the agreement and pay the money.  They did nothing for me and I want my money back.
