Took car to Corporate Meineke Store on Eagle Dr. Woodstock GA to have blown engine replaced in 2007 Mazda CX-7. This was in November 2017. The replacement engine comes with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.  The first engine worked for one week & then blew. They ordered a new engine from the same vendor & that engine wouldn’t work from the moment they received it. That was in February. The third engine was ordered from another vendor & was installed in May 2018. District Manager, Todd Bauers (Bowers) got involved when we had to wait such an extended time & the engines were having so much trouble. He informed us that they stood by their work & would do whatever necessary to make it right. He provided a rental to us till the car was running again. 

After two weeks the exhaust started to fall of the engine & there was oil leaking from the timing box on the 3rd engine. At this time the Meineke store on Eagle Dr. was closed down & became a SpeeDee repair shop with all the same employees & same manager. Chad, the manager was very aware of all the problems we were having & told us we needed to take the car to the next closest Meineke, which is located on Rt 92 in Woodstock GA. It is a franchise store. I called Todd Bauers & informed him of what was going on. He said to bring it to the Rt 92 store & he would let the owner know how to processs a claim to Meineke Corporate Office for reimbursement for the work. He never called the owner. I spoke with the owner several times. He refused to touch my vehicle without speaking to the district manager (Todd Bauers). I tried to call Todd back & he stopped taking my calls. I texted him images of the problems with the car & he no longer responded to my texts. 

I contacted Meineke’s Corporate Office to try to get some information & was told that Todd Bauers informed Corporate that they were no longer going to honor the valid warranty that they gave on the engine. 

We took the car to a reliable Car repair shop called Chloe’s Auto Repair on the corner of Eagle Drive & Bell’s Ferry Rd. They are trustworthy & do excellent work. They took the engine apart & found that the mechanic at Meineke had put so much silicone on the timing box gasket that it oozed into the engine itself & gummed up the timing chain & the canals where the oil travels in that space. There was so much on the gasket itself, when the engine ran, the silicone was pushed out of the timing box & the seal failed, thus the oil leak. 

It took 8 hrs of labor for Chloe’s Auto Repair to clean up the mess Meineke made. It cost $1,482. Meineke refused reimbursement. 

Todd Bauers should be should be held liable for his neglegence & his inappropriate decision to not uphold a valid 3 year warranty on an engine his company installed. Meineke should be held liable for the repairs that were required to get the engine running properly. By the way, since taking the car to Chloe’s Auto Repair, the car has been running perfectly.
