Rebates at Menards are a scam! The famous Menards "re-stocking" fee is a scam! If they put something(many things) in their ads, but don't keep them in stock-they consider that a special order!?? If for some reason, you don't end up needing the item(happens all the time in construction) or it's excess you get charged to return the extra. A special order should be something that is unusual that is not normally stocked and is rarely on sale.  Or something that has to be cut or modified for your project specifically. There are many stories of people getting the wrong siding and Menards charging them a re-stocking fee because it was a "special order"  This is a scam!!!  When you contact Menards, they just ignore you or send you to the manufacturer and that's about as far as it goes. This is ironic because many products at Menards are manufactured by Menards or a subsidiary of Menards. Midwest Manufacturing is Menards.

I am done shopping at Menards. I have no use for their "rebates" or their policies. The merchandise quality is quickly declining. I don't buy tools at Menards(haven't for years) Basically Menards is a junk yard instead of a lumber yard.

So where will you be shopping now?

AUTHOR: Cosmotron - ()

POSTED: Monday, April 29, 2013

Please tell everyone where you will be doing you future Menards competition shopping. Personally, I'd love to know who has a different policy than Menards. Lowes has the same policy. So does The Home Depot. I shopped them all. They all have low and high end materials to suit customer's budgets. So far Menards has gotten, and will remain getting, the bulk of my business.

For my new home construction, I did a ton of special orders and 11% rebates. Only one rebate was delayed. As it was for several hundred, I emailed a copy of my records and it was fulfilled (if you don't keep copies and records, don't blame others for your ignorance). If you read the standard procedures and requirements, there are no surprises. If you don't read what you're signing, then only a fool whines after the fact. These policies are typical with retailers. Why someone calls it a scam or rip off, when the information was right under their nose explaining everything, only points to the one unique problem. And it's not the retailers.

So...where will you be shopping now?
