This company claims to be a business friendly web promotion tool. They try to lure you in claiming free promotion of your business on the web and have literally 1000's of "basic" clients.

I tried it for a while and was constantly receiving e-mails claiming I could increase flow to my site with a premium package. I believe in internet advertising and have had some success with Google AdWords. Merchant Circle claimed they could use AdWords as well as Yahoo, CitySearch, and other search engines to increase my traffic.

I finally succumbed to the offers when I was offered a buy two months and get 1 month free promotion in May of 2008. About 6 weeks in I was really feeling the economic pinch we all are so I decided after my free month I would discontinue the service. I e-mailed Merchant Circle, but received no response. Their "dashboard" would allow me to complete the cancellation request to its' completion and then tell me service cannot be cancelled in the first 90 days.

After two months I was expecting my free month and noticed I was charged again. I immediately e-mailed them again with no response. I called and left voice mails but received no response. The dashboard still gave me the same no cancellations within 90 days message.

On August 9th, the 90th day, I again went to the dashboard to cancel. It allowed the cancellation this time but not before it charged me for a 4th month. I again have e-mailed, called, and even posted a thread on the company forum, all to no avail. This company is truly gifted at ripping people off and you should all be warned to stay away from Merchant Circle, free, basic, or premium.

* 90 day minimum commitment period. Downgrading prior to this 90 day commitment is not available. You buy two months and get your last month free. Other cancellation and editing fees may apply.

This is the additional information found directly under the promotional offer. At first it can be construded as a free trial month, but its clearly defined, purchase and receive a free month. Be careful in reading and understand full policy before purchasing.
