Brought my 1994 Honda in for brakes causing vibration when applied to slow down. Manager said I needed new rotors and brake pads. He guaranteed me I would get my money back if it didn't fix the problem. Paid $372.91 for the job. Driving out of the parking lot brake pedal went to the floor. The Manager said that it was normal after the work they did and it would come back up.
Next morning severe vibrations from front end and the brake pedal still went to the floor. Brought it back and they found they damaged the CV joint on one side and changed it and fixed the brake pedal.
Next morning still had severe vibration and again pulsating brakes which was the original problem. Brought car back this time they said the tires needed balancing and they couldn't see anything wrong with the brakes.
Next morning severe vibrations and pulsating brakes again. Brought the car back. Again they said they had to rebalanced the tires and said I needed new tires. They couldn't find anything wrong with the brakes. Finally went to a Honda dealer. They test drove the car and found severe vibrations in the front end. They resurfaced the rotors Monro put on and after another $175.00 all the problems were fixed.
Asked for a refund of the original cost and Monroe offered $19.50. The cost of the Honda analysis. But I was told they don't put that in writing. Seems they don't want a paper trail. So I have a $548.41 set of rotors and brake pads. Way too expensive to learn a lesson on where not to go for auto work.
I have written to the company President asking them to stand by their guarantee and I have also filed a complaint with the NH Attorney Generals office for Consumer Protection. If all this fails to get my money back, I will sue in court.

I will also point out that I went in for pulsating brakes and came out with pulsating brakes, a bad CV joint, a brake pedal that went to the floor and severe front end vibration that wasn't there when I brought the vehicle in. So far Monroe has said the problem was; bad rotors and pads, bad ABS, bad wheel balancing (twice), and bad tires. Honda resurfaced the rotors and the problem went away. For offering $19.50 back out of over $500.00 for not fixing my car and creating additional problems YOU are the one should be embarrassed by your offer. You charged me for fixing a problem you didn't fix.

Since you say the problem was a bad ABS sensor then your technician changed my rotors and brake pads erroneously. As for your offer, that's the second insult!

As it turns out, Richard's problem wound up being in the ABS sensor on his Honda, unrelated to the work we did. We have made a very generous offer to Richard, but he has refused it feeling the the entire repair from Monro should be free. We stand by our offer, but totally free brakes is not fair to Monro.
