I signed up over the Internet on July 1st with Motley Fool for their service called "Hidden Gems." The company clearly advertised that the first 30 days are free, and then they would charge me $345 for the 2 year subscription. After the company had advertised this, they turned right around and charged me the $345 immediately the day after I signed up. The company's policy clearly states that I would not be charged until Aug. 1st. These people are guilty of false advertising, and they are also liars.

I later found out that they don't supply a phone number for me to call, and so far, they have not returned my numerous emails. Therefore, I am not able to get in touch with them. My advice is to stay away from these people who lied to me and cheated me out of the 30 free days that they promised. If I try to cancel before the 30 free days are up, I have a sinking feeling that I will be in for the hassle of my life trying to do so! I am suspicious of a company that does not even supply a phone number. In summary, I was a fool for subscribing to Motley Fool!

Subscription confusion

AUTHOR: Tmfdb - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 23, 2008

Hello Tim,

I'm sorry to hear about the subscription confusion with The Motley Fool. The Motley Fool offers 30 day free trials in which you're not billed until the end of the 30 day free trial. Even if you are billed after the 30 day free trial The Fool offers a 30 day full money back guarantee with no questions asked. After the 30 day full money back guarantee has elapsed, we still offer a pro rated refund that's calculated on a per day basis. If a customer is not happy with a subscription at any time we believe they should have the ability to cancel. We believe that the Fool has a very liberal cancellation policy. After all, we want to keep our customers and keep them happy at the same time:)

The Motley Fool also offers 2 year special promotions that do not include a 30 day free trial. It appears that you signed up for a 2 year straight purchase and not a 30 day free trial. Again, we apologize for any confusion. In addition, when an order for a 30 day free trial or straight purchase is processed at www.Fool.com we send an email order confirmation which includes a toll free number as well as an email address so that you can contact us. We're sorry if you didn't receive this email. Please feel free to call us at 1-888-665-3665 Mon - Fri from 9AM to 5PM EST or email us at membersupport@Fool.com and we'll be happy to assist you.

We hope this helps and we look forward to hearing from you.

Fool-I-Am,

Derek
