I too have been billed fraudulently by Microsoft Online Billing Service, bill.ms.net WA. Sadly, it's been $21.95 for 18 months (395.10). Today I FINALLY spent an hour to speak to a LIVE, living, breathing credit card fraud representitive that had the contact number for MSN at her fingertips. It's 1-800-386-5550, a number I've otherwise been unable to farret out. MS was kind(?) enough to refund 3 months of charges (65.85.
The accusation was "why did I wait so long to contact them?"
My response "because MS is the only charge I've ever had on my cc statement that didn't include a telephone contact number."
A poor excuse, but I'm pretty busy, and rarely near phones during business hours.
My story began from a computer purchased from Dell 11/99. It offered FREE MSN for 6 months. Having 2 ISP's I wasn't interested in MSN and removed it from my machine. I never accessed it nor activated it, yet I was billed anyway. By August 2002, my first billing, I'd forgotten all about it.
It looks like I'm not the only one duped by this scam. I'm surprised Dell is envolved!
I'd gladly join a class action suit to recoup more of my looses and dish out punitive damages to discourge such fraudulent practices by MS and others. I never got a choice in MSN providing internet access for me, much less PAYING for it. Besides, it's an inferior service to what I already have, BROADBAND!
