This internet product offers "12,000 shed and woodworking plans."  I had an uncomfortable feeling about the product and conducted some research using various word combinations on Google of the product and kept coming back to the same sites.   I found several websites in which the return search implied there may have been issues with the product.

But when I click on a pretty healty sampling of the returned sites, they all went back to the website myshedplansdotcom.   For those that did not, the sites looked, in hindsight to be part of the overall internet marketing campaign for this product, with positieve product reviews and personal attestations.  All the wording on these sites was very similar in nature.

The site offered free downloads for two different shed plans which I did download and review.  Both plans where comprehensive and very detailed running to approxiametly 20 pages each, to include a detailed materials lists.  Based on these plans I decided to ignore my uneasiness and purchase the product.

The product is offered both as an online download service ($49) and with CD (+$19).  As I like to have a back up cd I ordered both.  I was expecting to recieve access to the online downlaod portion imeaditely, unfortunelty this was not the case.

Two days after I ordered (and after my Visa card had already been charged) I recieved access to the web site to download the plans.  All the plans provided were absolute garbage.  Every plan I looked at was one page with no additional documentation.  Many of the "plans" only included an elevation or an isometric view.

In addition, each of these plans looks to be culled from variious websites from around the internet, primarly university and college websites.  Across the top of each plan was "Collection compiled and distributed by MyShedPlans.com Unauthorized copying and reselling is prohibited and protected."

There were several help documents included on download.  These were pretty good for the most part.  Unfortunely they looked like they had been ripped from reputable websites and are probably used without permission.

This product is an absolute ripoff.

RE: I think you may expect too much

AUTHOR: Nicholas - ()

POSTED: Thursday, May 22, 2014

Dear Roger D.

"I read the above report and just had to comment. I'm not sure but I think the author's expectations may be just a bit high for what to get for their money."

You miss the point entirely.   The advertisement for the shed plan package claimed it was detailed plans that someone could actually build and they backed that up with their free sample.

10,000 pieces of garabage collected for free on the internets equates to a huge steaming pile of garbage.

The expectation was that the advertisement deliver what it claimed to offer. If expectations were too high it is the fault of the seller not the purchaser.

P.S. anytime you see one of these adds with all of these "bonuses" etc the products are 99% of the time complete garbage.

My Experience with MyShedPlans.com

AUTHOR: Ron - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, May 29, 2013

In response to Roger D's comment, I agree that the size of the compilation makes the product likely worth the asking price.

However if, as in my case, you discover that the plans are not what you thought, and are of no use to you, you then should be able to expect "myshedplans" to expeditiously comply with the "No Questions Asked" terms setforth in the Guarantee section of "myshedplans" solicitation.

Instead, after 3 attempts to contact with no response, and then running a website ownership query theough whois.com, only to find that the true ownership and contact information has been purposely disguised, I elected to open a resolution ticket with PayPal and ClickBank.  Long story longer - it ain't the product I have a problem with - it's the reluctance, or possible refusal to refund my money as promised, while doing business anonymously  For those reasons I feel obligated to advise anyone considering "myshedplans" to Definately Reconsider!

Update: Received a Full Refund

AUTHOR: abikerider - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 15, 2012

I just wanted to let people know that I received a full refund for my myshedplans payment of $37.00. I found the order confirmation email from Clickbank, the company that received my payment. I used the link in that email for managing my order and requested a refund based on the "money back guarantee" stated in the FAQ page on myshedplans.com. I then waited and 10 days later I can confirm that the money was refunded back to my credit card. The product may be misrepresented but at least the "money back guarantee" was not. I thought this might be useful for other people like me who were unhappy with the plans.

I was ripped off too

AUTHOR: abikerider - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 06, 2012

I needed plans to build a shed and the site myshedplans .com seemed to fit the bill. After downloading the sample plans for a shed and seeing how detailed they were I paid the money and started downloading. The first thing I have to say it how poorly the plans are organized. Also, most of the plans are NOT shed plans. In fact, there's probably only a dozen or so. The advertising makes you think you are getting at least a few hundred. On top of that, all the plans are just one or two pages with a 3d drawing and a floor plan. The site says you are getting detailed plans with material lists - WRONG!  Basically all the other complaints are true. Wish I had come here first. I  plan on filing a complaint with my credit card company.

The real truth

AUTHOR: Adam T Madron - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 04, 2011

I also purchased these plans. I have been a carpenter for 15 plus years. I found these plans online looking for shed plans so that I can build a 12 x 16 storage shed/shop. Part of the reason I was willing to buy plans is so that I could save time and money estimating materials and drawing up plans. I was reluctant to purchase at first and had decided that I was not going to purchase and then when the "free plan download" for a 8 x 12 shed was offered to me. I downloaded it and it was very precise all the information was there, materials, step by step instruction , etc. This was what they call the old bait and switch routine. I purchased the plans and was also guaranteed that if I was not completely satisfied I would receive a full refund and I was also told my card would not be charged for a week. Well, my card was charged before the 7 days was up and I was not satisfied. The plans that you receive a link to are numerous but as stated in one of the other reports there are a lot of them that are crap and if your time was worth a dollar an hour it would take you a couple thousand dollars to sort through all the garbage. NONE of the plans that I looked at were even close to being what the free download represented I have written 2 letters requesting refund with no responses. I was however fortunate enough to pay with paypal and should be able to get my money back. If what they had represented was a bunch of 1 page photocopied blue prints and a hodge podge mix of wood working plans and I had bought it I would not feel as though I was ripped off.

Also Ripped-Off By These Guys

AUTHOR: Joe - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 10, 2010

I was also ripped off by this company. I ordered a trial membership. Ad stated my credit card would not be charged for one week and would not be charged at all if I wasn't satisfied for any reason "No questions asked."
My card was charged immediately. Then I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to the Elite version which had complete plans another $29.99 I think( that's what I thought I was supposed to be getting to start with). Then I was asked if I wanted to purchase a CD with the plans on it for another $19.99. Again ad never mention that for the first $29.99 all I was getting was access to a website.
As soon as I started getting these upgrade options I knew I was had. I immediately asked for my money back. Never heard from them again.
  Definitely a SCAM!!

I think you may expect too much

AUTHOR: Roger - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, September 20, 2010

Hi,

I read the above report and just had to comment. I'm not sure but I think the author's expectations may be just a bit high for what to get for their money.

I bought one myself and am very pleased with it.  There is far more plans in there than any 5 books I can buy at my local store.

Even if they are a re-compilation of "discovered" plans, that still saved me tons of time finding them all.

Oh I guess if my time was only worth $1 an hour or something, I might be able to get 10% of what's in the package for the same price.

Or if I spent my time looking for specifics to critique about.

And it is unfortunate but the author started out in a negative mode right in the 2nd sentence ("I had an uncomfortable feeling about the product ...") and from there onward seemed pretty biased against the product in general.

Regardless, I think the author's categorization of the product as a "Rip Off" is not very objective, does no comparisons as to what they SHOULD have got, and just sets "the bar" waaaay to high in my opinion.

Personally, I found the package valuable.

Oh, and perhaps the author has a suggestion for a better package I could get for the same money?  Seriously, that is not a flippant comment but a real request.

I am a real person / hobbyist woodworker and am always on the look-out for good deals.  And if the author knows of any packages better than this, I am all ears...or 'eyes' as it were.

Sincerely,
Roger D.
