National Freedom Group Promised us a loan modification & took money from us in February & here it is August & nothing has happened. Irvine, California

We were contacted in February by a man named Richard Miller who said he was from the Natonal Freedom Group and could help us with a loan modification loan to help with our mortgage. We filled out tons of forms and submitted them to him through faxes. He called to let us know that he needed money from us and said we had qualified for a grant. We sent him 2 payments that totalled about $1800. Once we were approved for this loan, he told us to stop paying our mortgage and that our property taxes would be included in the loan. That was back in February and here it is August and we`ve heard nothing. A girl by the name of Rachael used to call us weekly, but, we haven`t heard from her in 1 month. The last time she called she told us that the bank was backed up and she doesn`t know how much longer this will take. In the meantime, we are facing foreclosure because we were dumb enough to believe that these people were going to help us out. We fell on bad times financially because of my husband`s open heart surgery and getting this phone call from Richard Miller came as such a wonderful time, or so we thought. We had just gotten out of bankruptcy and this offer was such a ray of sunshine for us. Now we`re in such a desperate predicament that we don`t know what to do anymore. If we don`t lose our home because of late mortgage payments, we`ll lose it because of back taxes. How can people do this to other people just for money? Don`t they realize that they are putting people out in the street? We never thought we would ever fall victim to a scam like this, but, when you`re desperate you`ll do anything to save yourself and your property.
